From what I understand he was actually involved even as a little kid in the 30s, running errands for the guys like Henry Hill in Goodfellas or something.

Lenny and Bernie grew up together as best friends only to have Lenny roll on Bernie for caring out his orders to wack Ernie.
Just curious; anyone besides me know any of these fine fellows? Other than the two Charlies, I knew them all and liked Bernie the most, Lenny the least!

I drive by charlies roost a dozen or so times a year on the way to my hunting camp. If those 4 walls could talk! It looks good too. The current owners keep it nice

Correct!!! The guy in the hat is Rocco “Cheech” Martell, an old hatchet man who was part of the Paul Romeo/Dominic Mallamo organization. He lived in Coitsville. I only know this because he was married to my grandfather’s sister and he was a regular at our holidays.

Then this Frank Amato might be Joe's son-in-law, Charles Pecora maybe PK and Richard is Joe's brother Richie.


I contacted the County Assessor and asked him for the public info on Charles Roost and who owned it etc.


It is currently in the name of Ron Amato Jr. Maybe Joe's grandson? I assume a relation to Sonny and Frank right? Not sure if you know or not.


It was in the name of Charles Pecora, Joseph Wolfe, Richard Pecora, and George Sterling before Ron Amato. Do you know any of those guys names?

Beth Amato is married to Ron Amato, Beth is Jo Jo’s granddaughter. Her brother, son of Annabelle Pecora takes care of the property per Annabelle

Ron Carabbia Jr posted this on December 30 regarding the passing of his dad:

I am deeply saddened to say that my father, Ronald David Carabbia, passed away at the age of 92 just before Christmas, his favorite time of the year.

It isn’t often that a funeral for someone of his age draws a crowd as large as he did. It’s also not often that a double amputee at the age of 85 lived life the way he did—going to work every week, pursuing the art of making a deal, and hitting the casino until the very end.

A Veteran marine, a loving grandfather and father, and an unforgettable friend, he spoke less and listened more.

He was a rare breed, the last of the Mohicans. He lived by a creed that very few could sustain. He was loyal in the face of adversity. He defined mental toughness. He never complained and refused to look back or relive the past. His focus was his family, friends, and the future. He was priceless.

And he will always be my dad.

It was an interesting and seemingly accurate 35 minutes, with Jim Traficant featured and the other usual cast of characters brought up in one fashion or another. Plus some good "man-on-the-street" Y-town types with "ordinary" citizens' views.

It sounds like this specific podcast series will focus on the Youngstown area, at least initially.

Recommend this to any of you who do the podcast thing.

The only things more amazing was living through all those murders like I did
We lived in Boardman about 5 miles from where Vince DeNiro got blown up out side of his restaurant, Cicero's on Market Street. The explosion was so great that the noise woke me up. I knew Joey Naples pretty well and one of the cops that worked my "joint" came and told me Joey got waked. At first everyone thought Lenny Strollo, the other Mahoning Valley Boss, was behind the hit. No Cigar as the country's most successful bank robbers shot Joey as he got out of his car to view his new house. Turns out that Amil Dinsio shot and killed Joey only to gain favor with Lenny. Go Figure

The numbers are from the YouTube play time bar. I mean that's what "1:31" and "4:49" and so on are. The ones I marked "maybe?" are the ones I'm just guessing on based on what I know and what's in the pictures but I'm not sure about them at all.

I'm no expert, but I've spent a lot of time reading from various sources over the years about the Youngstown mob,especially the Naples-Carabbia "war" in the late 70's - early 80's. The following are my best educated guesses only, with a couple still questionable:
