@Yates, You're correct. They needed Gravano to win the conviction against Gotti. But, the point of the whole discussion was that the Feds gather information not only from Informants but ALSO from Tapes & Surveillance. They need corroborative evidence which comes from MORE THAN ONE SOURCE. They also COULD NOT have convicted Gotti WITHOUT the Tapes. They NEEDED BOTH. That's the ONLY point I was making. I don't even like the Feds. Some of them are big biased assholes who don't always play by the rules but that doesn't negate the fact that they gather evidence from more than Informants and need corroborative evidence in order to convict.

I really dont get all the beefs since the main point of the feds is to place one potential informant in the corner (wrietaps or something else) so he can start screaming for help. A lot of old timers avoided this by keeping thwir mouths shut and simply going to jail and leaving their bones right there....thats it...its that simple

Good post confederate I would just add that they needed to get Cutler off the defense team to get the conviction as well imo.Confederate wrote: ↑Thu Apr 26, 2018 12:42 am @Yates, You're correct. The DeCavalcante tapes were from an illegal bug so they couldn't be used in a trial. Ruggiero, Gotti, Dellacroce were all indicted based on those early 80s tapes. Dellacroce and Ruggiero died before trial and Gotti of course fixed his case. Tapes trump informant testimony.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

Let's wrap this back and forth up, guys.
Re: Article mentioning Tony Parkside
I've said many times that I take all evidence and consider it. Indictments certainly do hold more weight than articles. And we've seen Romanello indicted as a captain, as well as tapes of associates talking about how Federici turned over his rackets to Romanello. Hence the reason I lean towards him being the captain of that crew now.yatescj7781 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 11:52 pmI'm confused now. You've always based your opinion on Federal indictments. Now you're basing it on media articles?Wiseguy wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 10:09 amI'm not sure, given this new article, but I still lean toward Romanello being the captain of that crew now.yatescj7781 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 24, 2018 10:04 pmIf you believe Tough Tony is a capo, then where is the indictment? That's what you base your entire views on right?Wiseguy wrote: ↑Tue Apr 24, 2018 1:37 pm For years people who want so much to pretend like almost everything they know about the mob isn't dependant on the feds would go to the "feds thinking Fat Tony is boss" example as a reason to disagree with them whenever they feel like it. Nevermind it was the exception that proved the rule.
Is an FBI agent labeling Merlino a Genovese captain going to be the new Fat Tony card?

Yates I'm on your side I'm fucking with sonny, maybe I should of been more clear. Same thing happened to me with "quote posts" a few days ago and he sent me several cringey messages, including the one I posted. He was trying to come off tough but it was just plain sad.yatescj7781 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 11:49 pmYou're upside down on your opinion. Feds had the Decav tapes way back in the 60s. Couldn't convict based on these. Had Ruggiero, Gotti, dellacroce tapes in mid 80s also. Couldnt convict. Only when a wiseguy informs or testifies can they convict. Think about that a day or two.Confederate wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 9:31 pmIn addition, The Feds get information from Surveillance and Eaves Dropping Tapes. It's not ONLY from Informants. The Feds basically convicted John Gotti because of Tapes that Gravano only supported with his Testimony. Gotti basically convicted himself as one example. Gravano just filled in some of the missing details.Wiseguy wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 9:24 pmThe FBI is actually well known for vetting it's info very well, especially compared to state law enforcement. For example, to consider someone made, the FBI requires that they be independently identified as such by two other members.UTC wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 9:02 pm No doubt the feds possess most of the info about the mob but if that mostly comes from informants, as stated here, what does that say about the accuracy of that body of information, given the self-service nature of its origin? Also, if the feds say something that we think is clearly inaccurate because of other info we got from the same party, where does that leave us? Also, how do we know that an inaccurate statement was made mistakenly?Yeah Nicky. I did. You're right. Very intelligent post. Anything relevant info to add or is your co-signing bandwagon "jump-on-other-guys-dicks" post complete?NickyEyes1 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 7:40 pmDid you just get bitch slapped? That a boy Nicole. You should ignore everything the Feds say. (That was Yates's 'side' remember.)
Good position buddy.
Great thread this. Nice adult discussion about whether we should re-asses TT's status due a FBI report.
Well done all.

Look what I quoted, nothing to do with the repeatedly debated topic. Im just talking about the quotes. And way to ignore the rest of the comment. Just stick to your "Cheers" and "Appreciated Mate" because thats all your good for on here.SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Thu Apr 26, 2018 11:24 amThat a boy Nicole.
