Mukremin wrote: Fri Dec 22, 2023 9:14 am I just re-read the Lovaglio topic and two things catch my attention.
Firstly; the Coddington Club incident where the Bonnano's went with 10 to 20 guys to the club where the Lucchese's were hanging out. At the club supposedly were present DiNapoli, Crea, DeLuca etc. A German Bonanno associate took a knife of someone and there was an argument and only lasted like 10 minutes. Crea said to the German guy "you i won't forget". There is also a mention of a hit attempt on him the next day.

Now i ask, we all read and heard how the mob won't kill a guy, an informer or anyone that easy. How come this was attempted by Crea?

Secondly, are there any other showdowns like this? I remember one in early 2000's where supposedly Arnold Squitieri and the Gambino's confronted some Albanese guys in a warehouse? Not sure where i read that, could be Falcone's book.
The Rudaj organization in late 1990s early 2000s attacked gamblind den protected by Gambino and Lucchese families so Squitieri and 20 made men try to kill Rudaj in a gas station but Rudaj mance to blow up all the gas station and the wiseguys must go away. Rudaj was sentenced in 2004 along with his fellow Nardino Colotti the former Gambino associate that passed with the Albanians.
They didnt try to kill Rudaj

The Bonanno’s are lucky that they didn’t do this after the 2017 transition from the Bronx to Brooklyn

FCI Fort Dix:
- Bonanno: Anthony Aiello, 46 (10/09/2029)
- Kansas City: Vincent Pisciotta, 68 (12/09/2029)
- Philadelphia: Salvatore Mazzone, 57 (09/13/2024)

For sure the prison is big enought. In italy Rudaj would risked to be whacked but in America the situationb is more easy.

Matty Madonna told some Bonannos at a funeral that the Lucchese family didn’t recognize Mikey Nose as official boss because he was in prison. Which seems ridiculously stupid being that the Lucchese boss was doing life but I believe there was another aspect to this where Mikey Nose had written a letter from prison and I forget exactly who it was to or about but Mikey was basically ratting someone out for cheating on his wife or was it a woman cheating on their husband? Something like that maybe someone can fill in the blanks because I’m forgetting the details but Matty Madonna was given this letter and I think that’s what really turned him against Mikey Nose if I’m getting the timeline right. All this leads to the confrontation in the social club.

As far as Crea being stuck at #2 this is just another case of rank not reflecting a person true power. Even Pennisi from a totally different faction of the family said they all looked to Steve as their boss. And you have DeSantis, Dellorusso and co telling Steve at that meeting where they took over the family that if he beats his case they would support him for acting boss, which says it all about the kind of respect he had from the family.

Why didn’t Amuso just make Crea the acting boss straight off I don’t know but I’d guess Madonna was easier for him to control.

Probably for the same reason the Colombos whacked Wild Bill before Allie Boy Jr got sent away...Amuso, like Persico, was afraid of losing control of the family...Crea and Cutuolo both were VERY well respected in their families and could have easily carried the torch very well...

John Pennisi has talked about this, how even though Madonna had the higher rank as acting boss, the family generally looked to Crea as the guy.

Crea was also the only member of the administration on the street from 2016 to early 2017. Madonna and DiNapoli had gone to prison on the New Jersey gambling case, and it took about a year for another acting boss (DeSantis) to be appointed.
