I'm sure the feds (FBI or DEA) must have something about them, so if someone can help me to have these, I'll be forever grateful to him:

thats a good one, it would be interesting to see if it talked about his Camorra days
I just saw on FBI Dead List 2016 that Rocco Pellegrino is on there so a file is probably prepered already due to a previous request. It will probably come for free plus shipment. I have no clue though if the file is any good.

I requested Ronald Previte's files a couple of years ago and it's still processing. Not sure how worth it it'll be even, I think odds are it'll be heavily redacted.

Been thinking of requesting Ralph Natale and Lawrence Merlino's 302s.

It's already in the FBI Files section.

Charles Carbone's FBI file would be an eye opener...

Some requests I've been meaning to file:

Granello, Salvatore
6/15/1923-10/1970(Proof of death: Newspaper article)
FBI# 21200006
92-HQ-3960, 92-NY-1108

Lombardozzi, Carmine
2/8/1913-5/9/1992
SSN: 117-12-8746
FBI# 290869
92-NY-0664

Paterno, Joseph
8/05/1923-3/16/1988(Proof of death: SSDI)
SSN: 144-16-5769
FBI#4386478
92-NY-2564

Morsellino, Vincenzo
9/12/1898
SSN: 074-20-7867
FBI#1639120
92-NY-3745

For Granello, I know there's lots on MF, but I wonder if there's more that hasn't been released to NARA.

I uploaded his file just now.
Thank you Antiliar. What a nice surprise. If the file is good, I m going to make a summary of interesting things found in there.
There you have it, never printed before.

Can those of you with more experience requesting and reading these files help me understand something?

What are the possible reasons that files that go back to say the 1960's or earlier, where all the key people are long dead, (both the subject of the file and anyone that arises in it), are still redacted so heavily? I'm sure there are valid reasons the FBI does this, I would just like to understand more.

So much of this can't effect any modern day investigation in any way. Is it to protect families of the deceased?

You could go back to the 1930s public enemies files of John Dillinger and Bonny & Clyde and find redactions. The reasons follow multiple court rulings:

What I always find crazy about the redactions is that if you ever get a file directly from NARA, there will be very limited redactions. They will still markout informants, IRS info etc. I just had a 200+ FBI file from them and only 30 pages even had a redaction. Too bad NARA gets you at .80 a page and three years processing...

With NARA, if you're serious about it, it might be worth it to go there in person if you can and make the copies yourself. I've done it myself several times many years ago.

thekiduknow wrote: Wed Feb 15, 2023 3:33 pm Good idea Antiliar, hopefully we can promote more sharing of files, especially since they're all digital now and easy to upload.

I wonder if it would be worth it to figure out how to create a library of all these files, sorted by family. Hosting a website might be a little much, but maybe on the Internet Archive like Gavin Schmidt, there's tones of Chicago and Milwaukee files on there.
