Kinda think he was close to Vito and gerrymandering catena and was asked to call in to mediate sit downstairs that's probably it. Same way other bosses did if there close to another boss.

im starting to think a lot of this about RB is overblown, overhyped nonsense

i thought scorcese answer was perfect. and tonys.

Moldea sure is committed. he should wear 1960's garb like those civil war reenactors wear their regalia to get in the spirit.

Moldea also does seem very nice and well-intentioned when interviewed which i guess is the important thing.

Martin Scorsese said in one interview when someone questioned the truthfulness of the book...He made a good point I thought. He was doing a movie on this man's book. Who am I to change his story and know what's true. Something to that effect. And he's right. He bought the rights to make the book into a movie. It doesn't really matter if we think it's bullshit or not. It's not our story to tell. Who knows what the real story is anyways...that Dan Moldea guy is in his 70s or something and has spent his whole life trying to find Hoffa remains and he's still not even close.

how has netflix focused on these guys?
For The Irishman mob movie - I was surprised they would do Buffalino of all the interesting stories - but that was bc I didn't know his story.
Netflix definitely didn’t say let’s focus on Russ Bufalino and have Scorsese make the Frank Sheeran story. You can’t even tell the Sheeran story without Russ. Scorsese had actually been trying to make that movie for a decade before Netflix got involved. I take it you haven’t read ‘I heard you paint houses’? Give it a shot.

Seconded. When Ralph Natale testified against Merlino in 2001, he talked about his dealings with D'Elia and spoke about how he had contacts with almost every family in the country
According to this article Merlino had wanted to put a contract on d'elia due to his past allegiance to Stanfa but Natale talked him out of it. https://www.timesleader.com/archive/999 ... ource-says

The looks like it could be pretty damn good. D'Elia should have some interesting stories to tell.
Thanks for your message and was D'Elia a protégé of Russell Bufalino and did he cooperate with law enforcement? As this article suggested that he did cooperate in one case https://www.mcall.com/2008/11/25/repute ... utors-say/
