I'll take that under consideration.Wiseguy wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 5:32 am The only thing I would say, and its a side note, is that 195 figure for the Bonannos is definitely a mistake and doesn't square up with other estimates of the family around that time. I've wondered if there was a transcribing mistake somewhere along the way and 95 members (the more likely figure for the Bonannos in the early 1980s) became 195 members.
I think it's quite arrogant to say it's 'definitely' a mistake when you can't know that for sure. Just as the other families the Bonannos made a lot of guys in the mid to late 70s when the books reopened. Other figures given for them at the time where 150 including the Montreal crew.Wiseguy wrote:The only thing I would say, and its a side note, is that 195 figure for the Bonannos is definitely a mistake and doesn't square up with other estimates of the family around that time. How about almost certainly?Lupara wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 6:02 amI think it's quite arrogant to say it's 'definitely' a mistake when you can't know that for sure. 120 members is still quite some more than 95. I was also suprised that they were listed as having so many, but they probably had similar numbers in the 50s. Sciacca was overheard saying they had 180 members in '66 so I don' t see how they dropped to 95 by 1980, especially taking into consideration the replenishment that took place between '76 and '80. JD's lists show them at having 120-150 members in recent times.Wiseguy wrote:How about almost certainly?Lupara wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 6:02 amI think it's quite arrogant to say it's 'definitely' a mistake when you can't know that for sure. Three different government reports had the Bonannos at 120 members in 1983, 109 members in 1987, and 112 members in 1988.
Needless to say, 195 members for 1980 is definitely an outlier and highly questionable.
120 members I can believe. And 95 members is a lot closer to 120 than 195.Lupara wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 6:43 am120 members is still quite some more than 95. Gets confused often, but this one should be Salvatore J. Profaci. Salvatore Profaci Jr. died in 1978 and was never a captain.Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 9:03 am Colombo:
