Five Families 1983 Project Help
Any discrepancies, additions, disagreements with these before I make it into a chart? The Gen admin might be a point of contention as well as the Bonannos.

Re: Five Families 1980 Project Help
The only thing I would say, and its a side note, is that 195 figure for the Bonannos is definitely a mistake and doesn't square up with other estimates of the family around that time. I've wondered if there was a transcribing mistake somewhere along the way and 95 members (the more likely figure for the Bonannos in the early 1980s) became 195 members.

I'll take that under consideration.Wiseguy wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 5:32 am The only thing I would say, and its a side note, is that 195 figure for the Bonannos is definitely a mistake and doesn't square up with other estimates of the family around that time. I think it's quite arrogant to say it's 'definitely' a mistake when you can't know that for sure. Just as the other families the Bonannos made a lot of guys in the mid to late 70s when the books reopened. Other figures given for them at the time where 150 including the Montreal crew.Wiseguy wrote:The only thing I would say, and its a side note, is that 195 figure for the Bonannos is definitely a mistake and doesn't square up with other estimates of the family around that time. Three different government reports had the Bonannos at 120 members in 1983, 109 members in 1987, and 112 members in 1988.
Needless to say, 195 members for 1980 is definitely an outlier and highly questionable.

Re: Five Families 1980 Project Help
How about admins and captains? So far I hear Sonny Ciccone as a potential maybe? A Casso/Amuso discrepancy. Wasn't Marangello taken down after Galante? I need help with all of this, it's not my area of knowledge.
Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: Five Families 1980 Project Help
120 members is still quite some more than 95. I was also suprised that they were listed as having so many, but they probably had similar numbers in the 50s. Sciacca was overheard saying they had 180 members in '66 so I don' t see how they dropped to 95 by 1980, especially taking into consideration the replenishment that took place between '76 and '80. JD's lists show them at having 120-150 members in recent times.Wiseguy wrote:How about almost certainly?Lupara wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 6:02 amI think it's quite arrogant to say it's 'definitely' a mistake when you can't know that for sure. 120 members I can believe. And 95 members is a lot closer to 120 than 195.Lupara wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 6:43 am120 members is still quite some more than 95. As for earlier estimates, I take those before the 1980s with a grain of salt. Like Capeci said, the further you go back, the more questionable they are.
As for more recent times, I've made my position pretty clear about the larger estimates for the present-day Bonannos.

Re: Five Families 1980 Project Help
These charts are from 1983. Compiled by the NYPD I believe. The Bonanno membership figure is from the late 1960s so outdated a bit by 1983. The family had at least 134 members (not counting most of the Montreal members) in 1979. Their books were closed from 1979-1984 so factoring in deaths about 120 members for 1983 seems the most accurate.
Some corrections:
Bonanno:
-UnderBoss vacant
-Sal Catalano, Frank Lino and Anthony Spero were Capos
-Frank Tartamella Acting for Catalano
-Mike Sabella, Vito DeFilippo, Nick DiStefano and Armando Pallastrino were Soldiers
Colombo:
-Langella UnderBoss and Acting Boss
-Alphonse Persico Sr. the Consgiliere
-John Franzese, Little Allie Boy Persico, Salvatore Profaci Jr, Joseph Tomasiello, Anthony Scarpati and Anthony Induisi were Capos
-Joseph Gentile Acting for Little Allie Boy Persico
-Michael Franzese Acting for Sonny Franzese
-Anthony Abbatemarco, Nicoline Sorrentino, Frank Fusco, Joe Yacovelli, Vic Orena and Greg Scarpa were Soldiers. Nicky Binanco transfered back to the NE family by this time.
Gambino:
-Joseph Arcuri, Frank Piccolo and Michael Caiazza were Capos
-Joe LaForte Sr. was Acting for Caiazza.
-Carmine Lombardozzi a Soldier. Maybe Rocco Mazzi as well
-Ciccone wasn't promoted until 1986.
Genovese:
-Vincent Gigante as Boss.
-Anthony Salerno UnderBoss and Acting Boss
-Louis "Bobby" Manna as Consigliere
-Dominick Canterino and Louis Gatto were Capos. Saverio Santora possibly a Capo
-Louis Gaccione was Acting for Filippone
-Andrew Gerardo was Acting for Boiardo
-Vincent Napoli, Benjamin DeMartino, Joseph Sabato were Soldiers. Camillo Parasi and John Massiello likely Soldiers as well
Lucchese:
-Vittorio Amuso, Anthony Luongo and Anthony Accetturo were Capos. Carmine LoCascio was another one (Died in 1983, replaced by Samuel Cavalieri)
-Migliore was Acting for LaRatro
-Peter DiPalermo was Acting for Joseph DiPalermo
-Anthony Casso, Joseph Lucchese and Vincent Diapoli were Soldiers

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

Wasn't Catalano ZIP Streetboss during this time?
Re: Five Families 1980 Project Help
Gets confused often, but this one should be Salvatore J. Profaci. Salvatore Profaci Jr. died in 1978 and was never a captain.Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Fri Aug 03, 2018 9:03 am Colombo:
