I should point out that, as Capeci said, it typically wasn't a case of an entire family having an interest in a casino but rather individual members who were involved. So, even though the above list has name a of cities, it would be individual members of that family. Some of those would include -

Genovese: Frank Costello, Vincent Alo, Gerry Catena, Anthony Salerno

Chicago: Anthony Accardo, Sam Giancana, Johnny Roselli, Joseph Aiuppa, Jackie Cerone, Angelo LaPietra

Gambino: Frank Piccolo

Detroit: Anthony Zerilli, Michael Polizzi

Cleveland: John Scalish, Angelo Lonardo

Pittsburgh: Samuel and Mannarinos

St Louis: Anthony Giordano

New England: Raymond Patriarca

New Orleans: Carlos Marcello

Kansas City: Nick Civella

Milwaukee: Frank Balistrieri

Up through part of the 1960s you had a variety of people from around the country involved in Vegas before many of them sold out. Afterward it was usually the Midwest families having interests there until the mob was finally out of the casinos by the mid-1980s.

Just for the hell of it, here's what I've seen for the Havana casinos. Like the Vegas casinos, fronts were used to run the casinos themselves with mafiosi having hidden interests...

Tropicana - Trafficante, Lansky, Luciano

Sans Souci - Trafficante, Pittsburgh

Riviera - Lansky, Alo, Costello

Hotel Nacional - Lansky

Sevilla Biltmore - Trafficante

Capri - Nicholas DiCostanzo and Charles Tourine (Genovese family)

National Casino - Lansky, Dalitz/Cleveland

Havana Hilton - Trafficante, Joseph Silesi (not sure if he was a Gambino or Lucchese member)

Hotel Deauville Casino - Trafficante

I'm telling ya FoH, if I had one choice on a time machine, it would be the late 40's early 50's in Havana..

The '46 Havana conference would be ideal of course. How awesome would it be to have been a fly on the wall during certain meetings at the Nacional then..

"The hotels here are bigger and swankier than any of the rug joints we put in Vegas."

Seriously though, from what I have read, before 1955 the only casinos in Havana were the Tropicana and the Sans Souci. There were a few years after that where the others were also in operation. The mob had multiple casinos in Vegas for decades.

@Wiseguy, Good info buddy. For Chicago you might want to add Lefty Rosenthal and Joey Lombardo. Spilotro was just the muscle on the outside with his crew. Lombardo went to jail with Auippa, Cerone & LaPietra.
