So funny.. he’s in such denial About his cooperation it’s insane ... and it seems in his more recent interviews he’s trying to almost play up the gangster role more... like someone said earlier he doesn’t even do his whole Jesus Christ born again spiel anymore... it’s crazy to me that vladtv and these people interviewing him supposedly do research on all their guests , especially vlad.. he’s had him on like 10 times and still hasn’t figured out that Michael is a rat???? It’s not hard to find out...
Vlad doesn't care if he's a rat...
He's done several rappers who were rats as well as John alite
Yeah I know vlad has no issues with rats, he’s half a ear himself.. but when he interviews other people he lets it be known that that cooperated and they speak on it, or at leasts asks the question... with Franzese they literally talk about how he walked away from the life without cooperating and a bunch of other lies surrounding Michaels not very stand up history.. it just bothers me that in all these big YouTube podcasts he’s getting lately that not one person has done a little research and confronted him with actual documentation that he did indeed cooperate... it drives me nuts that he goes around telling his “story” and tells it like he stood tall... between that and his fake religious bullshit I personally can’t stand the guy... he’s got scammer written all over him... he reminds me of those peter popoff televangelist preachers that have been busted doing their fake Miracle healings and Selling fucking bottled holy water, and asking his followers for donations so he can get a new private jet to spread the gospel (which he now owns 2 of) and has a fuxking airport in his backyard with his own landing strip.... all paid for by poor saps who thing him touching their forehead and giving him their life savings is going to save them for stage 4 cancer ..
All good points.
I'd call him a marketing genius though. He claims he was a good car salesmen and I believe that. Franzese, like him or not, is someone who has a fair amount of charisma and social skills. It's impressive, right or wrong, that he was able to rebrand himself from informant to mob boss in the span of 10 years. So he likely would have done well in any endeavor. But with the mob angle, people are going to naturally want to be around him and he's used it to his advantage in his post-mob life. The religion angle adds another layer of protectiveness, two things you never press are mobsters and someone's religion, he's got both. He also had a good deal with the FBI, good deals with universities to go around speaking. The guy makes deals, before during and after the mafia. Still doesn't make him Allie Boy's Underboss in waiting, but he's done some impressive business, button or not.
Compare him to say Gravano who lacks Franzese's savoir flair. He turned down a role in the Sopranos and doesn't seem to endear anyone to him like Franzese does. Gravano's podcast I'm willing to bet is at the direction of his daughter and we'll see how it goes. I'd argue though that Franzese has the staying power based on his ability to develop connections in the entertainment industry, which is a weird trait that runs in the Colombos. Watch Night at the Golden Eagle you can see Donnie Shacks starring as an ex-con a few years before he was made Underboss in real life.
Franzese/Gravano provide an interesting contrast. The first is likely the classic charismatic goodfella who'll tell you literally anything (doesn't make it true) and the latter is a sociopath who's story hasn't changed because he doesn't give a fuck. Franzese can change his colors, Gravano can't shed his.
