Hopefully the horse racing will get a boost at this track from the extra money. I stopped there once while I was taking a road trip and there was literally 6 people there betting on the horses.
I've read that horse racing is a dying industry and, if that's the case, can only assume it's a generational thing.
I'm 32 but grew up goin to the races so I enjoy them. Prefer dog racing more tho but your right it's been dying a slow death for a few decades.
I think it’s generational and there also more options to gamble then back in the day more legal casinos etc
the handles have been up the last few years but still way off prior to the econmany crashing , The slot machines saved allot of the tracks
I could see dog racing get outlawed in the future I believe floridia just banned it ,

MGM Closes on $850M Empire City Casino Purchase

After securing the necessary approvals from the New York State Gaming Commission on Monday, MGM Resorts International and MGM Growth Properties LLC announced today they have completed the transactions for their acquisition of Empire City Casino in Yonkers. Following MGM Resorts’ acquisition of Empire City for approximately $850 million, MG Growth Properties acquired the developed real property from MGM Resorts for approximately $625 million and leased it back to a subsidiary of MGM Resorts that will now operate the property.
