Re: Montreal Mafia status - Post Rizzuto Era
Is Arcadi still out? It's odd we haven't heard ANYTHING from him! I would have thought for sure he would have made a play or backed someone and made a statement or something. Maybe the mafia as a whole up there are camping out on the mattresses for sure because you hardly heard from him or Del Balso minus his home invasion and I think the threat charge was loosely tied to that if I'm not mistaken.
As for the Hells/mafia, I'm not so certain the mob is weaker at this point. I think the HA's still need the mafia because of their drug dealing ties. Yes it's not as easy to get the stuff in these days it seems with the arrests, but I think the mafia is more concerned with the infighting and fueds right now than they are wondering/hoping if they are the strongest or not. I think without them the HA's have a much tougher link to get stuff into Canada and out of Canada. I know they have their own ties but I doubt they're as strong as the links Vito Rizzuto had and even those of Desjardins/Mirarchi.

If I didn't have my case coming up, I would like to come back with you gentlemen when this is over with and really lay the law down what is going on in this country.....
Re: RE: Re: Montreal Mafia status - Post Rizzuto Era
Agreed. The Hell's may now control more territory and are more dispersed but their role in the drug business is limited to local distribution while the Mafia arranges the importation. I don't think this is nor will be changed. The Mafia has their own outposts in Southern America and direct connections with the drug cartels. This isn't suddenly going to change now that the Hell's are more of a presence in Quebec. Their connections will continue to prefer to deal with them because of a relationship that has been built on trust for decades. The Mafia has a track record of international drug smuggling that goes back a hundred years. The Hell's have a lot of catching up to do which will not happen anytime soon if ever. Then there's also construction in which the mob is firmly entrenched not to mention gambling. What's left for the Hell's are the less lucrative rackets such as local drug dealing, theft, extortion and loan sharking. Controlling territory is one thing, but having the connections, sophistication and infiltration in the business community and politics another. I think the Mafia is now maintaining a low profile and is reorganizing after years of internal confict rather than being crippled. Remember that all the big players are back on the streets and it hasn't been as quiet since 2004.dixiemafia wrote:Is Arcadi still out? It's odd we haven't heard ANYTHING from him! As for Arcadi, he's been apparantly meeting up with his fellow Calabrians such as the Violis. The Rizzuto alliance as it once was is no more.

Guys, as far as the drugs....
Now, who you should pay attention to are the Mexicans. The Italians knocked down a notch is an opportunity for the Mexicans to make deals with these mid tier groups, and gain more Canadian market share...
just a thought....

I've felt for a long time the Narcotics connections are the KEY to power up there....
( While lots of people seem to think all you need is to
just be a made Bonanno...)
It's what will bring the Bikers and street gangs to the table.
I found it intriguing, Mirarchi, Scoppas, Dejardins, Violis, the men who were rumored, or were expected to be in contention to take over, ALL have big Narcotics capabilities.
Even now, it says Woolley is very important to the Sollecito group.
Whereas, you had a guy like Arcadi, whom apparently alienated the street gangs right away....Not smart if you are in the Narcotics business....
Same type of stupidity with the Commisos dealings with the Wolfpack....

And lastly, if they have THAT much market share in the streets, ( interesting dynamic of the drug trade here)
a supplier/ importer would be obliged to deal with them....

What I meant is that these are the rackets the Hell's can assume dominance in. The more sophisticated rackets remain in the hands of the mob.

@lupara
Something we have to be careful with is assuming the ORGANIZATIONS own the narcotics connections.
It's usually a personal connection unless there is a consortium in place.
Like Rizzutos connections are HIS connections... that's why in order to really win the war, he had to die first.
Also, we gotta pay attention to what's been happening. You guys are assuming the Bikers HAVE to go through the mafia.
How do we explain the Wolfpack SELLING cocaine TO ndrangheta? And the Italians not paying up?
The Commissos no less......

Looks like Scott B has compiled a timeline for the war in Montreal on his blog. I was doing the same for a while until it fell by the wayside. Seems like he got most of the major hits but others will have to say if any are missing.
THE MONTREAL MOB WAR MURDER TIMELINE: RIZZUTO CRIME FAMILY REMAINS AT WAR INTO 2019
For the past decade, a mob war in Montreal has engulfed the Canadian underworld. In the late 2000s, Montreal Godfather Vito Rizzuto’s family mafia dynasty came under attack from within when Rizzuto’s right-hand man Raynald Desjardins joined forces with deported New York don Salvatore (Sal the Ironworker) Montagna to challenge Rizzuto’s reign while the mob boss was away serving a prison sentence in America. Rizzuto’s father, son and brother-in-law were all executed with Rizzuto sitting helpless behind bars.
THE MONTREAL MOB WAR MURDER TIMELINE

Re: Montreal Mafia status - Post Rizzuto Era
I wonder where Scott got if from that Del Blasio was a close friend of Rocco Sollecito.
What I remember what was being said is that he was a mob middle man who had arranged hits for rival mob factions.
Also, some of the victims he described as belonging to the Desjardins group were with Giuseppe Vito.
Are the Pietrantonios who were shot in 2012 in any way related to Antonio Pietrantonio? If I remember correctly they weren't but my memory is vague.
