Why did the Genovese contract the hit out to Geas? And is this why Geas was in prison?
Ray Sr. could have easily killed Whitey but the thing was, Angiulo wanted Whitey alive since he took on Howie Winter's 250k gambling debt once he got control of Winter Hill. It is true that once Salemme got control of Boston that they were definitely hooked into the club so to speak as yes Salemme/Flemmi were definitely tight and popped a few people over the years together, especially in the 60's I think it was. If you want to know how close they were check out the Salemme trial thread and read Flemmi's testimony against Salemme.
As for Geas, I think Arillota was the one that farmed it out to Geas and then flipped on Geas.
Its fucked up that the made guy, Arillotta ( & Tranghese) flip, and the Geas brothers don't. So much
for either being true tough guys. Then again, both Geas brothers probably were beaten to the punch by Ari and Tran flipping 1st.

Let me clarify...what I meant was that if Bulger had stepped on Ray Sr’s toes, Patriarca could have squashed him. Prior to rubber lips taking over.

There is no maximum security prison in America where he could have survived long. The guards left him wide open for this attack. Any well known rat would have gotten killed, here it happened quick. The inmates knew he was coming in, and that he was unguarded.
I seriously doubt Whitey could have gave up anything on Ray Sr. and mostly basic info on Junior I'd imagine. He wasn't as plugged in with them as he was the Angiulo's but his corrupt shit with Connolly helped bring them down after his info led to the wire tap in Angiulo's office. Any info they had on them came mainly from Flemmi and not Whitey.

Wiki is hardly a credible source. Ray Sr died in 1984. My reference was directed to the 1970’s when Whitey was coming into power in Southie.
