My answer came off as being sarcastic, and it was not my intent to direct it at you. As you say, these guys are pricks and my point was they dont give a fuck who their decisions upset, was all.MoLarryCurly wrote: ↑Wed Jun 20, 2018 9:34 pmSonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Wed Jun 20, 2018 9:32 pmNo disrespect but who gives a shit about breaking up other crews.MoLarryCurly wrote: ↑Wed Jun 20, 2018 9:20 pm Can’t see giving two guys promotions considering it would be breaking up other crews to give them guys.
Administration doesnt generally take into account BFF soldiers hurt feelings when making decisions. If you catch my drift.
I hear that. Was just giving my input.

Re: Gene Gotti, John Carneglia
I don't think it has anything to do with the soldiers' opinions, I think it's more to do with the captains of those crews. Breaking up their crews means far less income for the capos, as well as messing up or potentially affecting business relationships or otherwise that those soldiers might have had with the captains in question. Those soldiers are in those crews for a reason, they didn't just pick the names out of a hat. Soldiers are generally moved crews for a valid reason, not just because a made guy who has spent the last 30 years behind bars apparently deserves a group of guys who have never met him underneath him and kicking up to him.SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Wed Jun 20, 2018 9:32 pmNo disrespect but who gives a shit about breaking up other crews.MoLarryCurly wrote: ↑Wed Jun 20, 2018 9:20 pm Can’t see giving two guys promotions considering it would be breaking up other crews to give them guys.

As well as this, captains need certain qualifications. Does he have backing & support behind him? Is anybody in leadership willing to sacrifice financial interests to Gene - if they knew Gene, then maybe, but John Gotti's old crew don't seem to be very prominent anymore. Squitieri, D'Amico, Sisca, haven't been linked to criminal activity in awhile IIRC.
Overall, I just don't think it's feasible that people deserve to have the 'captain' title just because they've been locked away for awhile. And I don't think it's a policy that the Gambinos have. I don't think they're going to make Gene in charge of any large-scale rackets either.
Some envelopes, sure, from the guys who used to be under him, but I don't see the Sicilian leadership jumping at the chance to take stuff away (whether it be soldiers or rackets) from a guy whose only friends from before he went inside are old men who are no longer prominent in the family.
Re: Gene Gotti, John Carneglia
It seems John Gotti's family isn't hurting for money. Do you think Jr. would help him get on his feet. I wonder how much money Gene made before his imprisonment? Was he married with kids? I would think he either left them alot of money, or someone else was taking care of them. Maybe the other Gotti's have money stashed away for him.

Re: Gene Gotti, John Carneglia
Completely disagree Gohn
Admins care as much about Capo’s feelings as they do soldiers. Obviously moreso but the point holds. And the cases whereby moving a soldier from one crew to another would ‘disrupt business’ are so rare as to not be relevant. Guy is a shark, move him. Who’s hurt? Not the admin, the Capo loses. Guy runs a gambling website, move him, who’s hurt, not the admin, the Capo loses. Etc etc etc.
I’ll reply in more detail tomorrow, but you see where I’m going.

Gene apparently has a massive shark book on the street for the last 30yrs. So monies not his problem I doubt.Frank wrote: ↑Wed Jun 20, 2018 10:43 pm It seems John Gotti's family isn't hurting for money. Do you think Jr. would help him get on his feet. @Gohn: Ask Al Trucchio about how much the admin cares about their Capos feelings

And the Capo point is moot in my book. They’re on probation for the next twenty years so they’d have to be clinical to jump back in and be active.
My position is they’ll be given a stream of revenue (a gambling op for example) and retire with that getting an envelope each month and passing a little up, all from their back porch rocking chair.
But who the fuck knows.

Re: Gene Gotti, John Carneglia
I had heard about that shark book too. If he's making alot I would think he would make his money and keep himself insulated from the law to avoid going back to prison. He has a disadvantage of being a Gotti. You know how LE likes to prosecute them. I would think most members would be hesitant to do any business with him.SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Wed Jun 20, 2018 10:48 pmGene apparently has a massive shark book on the street for the last 30yrs. If the administration doesn't care about their soldiers or capos, then I doubt they would care about a made guy whom nobody's seen for 30 years.
And Al Trucchio's story was completely different, in my opinion, because:
a) He was locked up and wasn't coming home for awhile. The Mafia are vultures.
b) He was knocked down for several other reasons, especially the Corozzo beef.

Re: Gene Gotti, John Carneglia
I can see Gene trying to be more involved in the gambino politics from his rocking chair, but I highly doubt he has much clout left. I can see both of them getting some lighter envelopes on monthly basis and ride out their remaining years. They're just too old, even if they had the ambition. The last time both of them were on the street Reagan was president.

Where’d ya hear that Lorenzo got 30k from trucchio?MoLarryCurly wrote: ↑Wed Jun 20, 2018 9:20 pm I thought they pretty much knocked down anyone from the Gotti era besides their own people. Can’t see giving two guys promotions considering it would be breaking up other crews to give them guys. As far as envelopes that could happen Al Trucchio handed Lorenzo 30k when he came home to get back on his feet. So it does happen. But end of the day what happens is up to a small group of people not anyone else. I don’t think gene gets a promotion. John I no nothing about. I think they sit back I’m sure they both have earns going on.

Re: Gene Gotti, John Carneglia
John Carneglia had a large scrap metal business with his brother Charles before he went away. They owned the buildings and property out there in Queens. I believe John held the title and not Charles for the property because when Charles got busted and wanted to use the property for his bail conditions Johns said no way. I'm sure selling that property brought him a nice sum that he could live off of. I believe Gene only had one child - a daughter - and I too heard that story of shylock business being active while he was away. As I said before- they are both in their mid-70's with 20 more years of parole restrictions. Remember they got 50 years each from Federal Judge John Bartels. And I always remember Carneglia saying when he gets out of the can he is going to piss on Bartel's grave. I don't think the federal Parole Officers would like that John!
Re: Gene Gotti, John Carneglia
There is no way that Gene's book that was being taken care of still has the same customers in it from when he went away. I think that it pumped up by news papers. The guy has been gone forever. I bet more then have the customers he had are dead and the rest are paid up ! He has been locked up since 1988 right? lol

I think another point to remember is that while cosa nostra is obviously not a prison gang; you still have to consider the connections Gene must have made and maintained by doing 30 years in the Feds. He’s prob done time with big shots and is still friendly with important guys from all five families. Not to mention the amount of connected guys and other street guys he must have made connections with inside. These guys will be lining up at his door to do favors for him when he gets out. Take that to the bank. This guy will have a serious backing among street guys. 100%
