Agreed. I think murders are a rare occurence, and they tend to avoid any murder that would be easy for law enforcement to connect to LCN. Well known made guys for example. However, if a poor latino, white, or black street guy is killed due to whatever beef? Not so easily tied to OC.
That's my line of thinking. No more blowing away known made guys in broad daylight that will make for great newspaper copy and titillate Sopranos fans. But if some "white trash" dude pisses them off badly enough? He still gets disappeared, or killed in what looks like gangbanger stuff, or maybe even shot full of fentanyl, and the people who need to get the message get the message.
Again, just a suspicion with no evidence, but hey that's the point of the thread.

Although I guess not so recent but as recent as 2009 they did murder that little Anthony pretty publicly and as far as I’m aware nothing ever came of that investigation. Even the meldish murder seems to be blurred and from what I heard londonio hurt himself by making phone calls and talking about it. The murders they have done seem to have actually been done successfully if they can evade cooperators. I just don’t think they will take a risk unless there is an extreme reason to do so.

Basciano still holds some amount of sway from prison.
Think the Zottola murder proved otherwise.
I mean the guy got wacked by his own son. I don’t think it has anything to do with Basciano having no pull but more to do with the son being a complete retard
That’s the guy, Adriana. My Uncle Tony. The guy I’m going to hell for.
Regarding my beliefs without evidence, I am convinced that the mafia in Canada (especially in Ontario) and Australia are much larger and more powerful than in the USA.

Basciano reached out to the Bonannos to protect Zottola and they didn't.

Hard to protect a guy when his kids want him dead on the sneak. How do you protect that?
he only gesture of sympathy for Zottola's dilemma came from ex-acting Bonanno boss Vincent (Vinny Gorgeous) Basciano who is serving a life sentence. In taped talks from prison that Basciano had with Sally Daz and his son Salvatore, he told the Zotollas he would "make some calls" to "friends" on the street for them. But help never arrived. Basciano's Bronx-based successor, current Bonanno boss Michael (Mikey Nose) Mancuso, ignored the desperate longtime associate of his crime family.
My point being is Basciano reached out to the Bonanno family for help and they ignored his requests. Doesn't paint the picture of someone having influence in the famiky still. IIRC, Basciano even suggested it may be the son targeting them.

Since made guys are not getting killed anymore, I’ve suspected that the guys that are being put on the shelf are either getting severely assaulted right on the spot or targeted for assaults or robbery later on.

Basciano literally gave the green light to the Albanians to kidnap the old man. He didn’t give a shit
was Salvatore Caruana a made member or an associate of the Patriarca crime family an informant like Bulger and Flemmi? I believe that he went missing in 1984.

My belief is this is the best time to be a wiseguy. as the traditional ways of making money have dissipated (extortion, numbers) new ones have popped up (crypto pump & dump, pay day loans). there are no murders and fbi i trailing you every day. least amount of active members (the ones in the chart section arent all active i.e. vinny butch corraro) and most of the jury pool thinks youre an ok guy. the mob has turned into a semi legit organization that only is on the fringes of illegality instead of being draped in it. its more of a breakfast group of guys giving each other referrals from construction to restaurants (gigi and toddaro)
