Yeah that makes sense given Vince was his captain. Is it known who was acting for Vince when he was away?cavita wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 5:11 pmThere was no specific mention whether Gulotta and Vince were closer than anyone else and there was no relation between them- Gulotta's family coming from Sambuca while Vince's family was from Camporeale. The only thing I can figure is that Gulotta was increasingly becoming entrusted more in the family's gambling areas and Vince, being his capo, was tasked as a responsibility of his.

We don't have many inside sources who could break it down from an organizational perspective in the era, but a Chicago member informant (possibly Leonard Gianola or Ned Bakes) was an associate and booze runner in that era and indicated he made good money although the details on how this was handled are redacted:

In general though, the mafia employed rumrunners who were often associates and we can assume they typically paid them a stipend or salary of some kind, a possible variable being if the sum changed depending on the load or profits being made.

Yes, in Phil Priola's FBI files there was a Rockford Police Detective who stated he had information that Priola was acting capo while Vince was at Sandstone Penitentiary. Interestingly, Frank Balistrieri was also housed at Sandstone at the same time and FBI files mentioned this.B. wrote: ↑Mon Mar 10, 2025 5:13 pmYeah that makes sense given Vince was his captain. In the 4th episode he says the only arrests on his record that someone will be able to find, and they'll have to dig, is an arrest in 1979 and 1980 both for keeping houses of prostitution.Tonyd621 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 2:18 pmI am skeptical. I am not nearly as well -versed as others in Chicago but I tried to look up court cases on him. I found two, and both were him responding to an emergency as a paramedic in '89' and '91.' There has to be some documentation linking him to being associated with the Outfit. If he can't even produce it... I think he's lying, imoPPPP wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 12:54 pmAnybody listen to this yet? Listened to the first 3 episodes so far. After consulting with an attorney they use aliases for all the Outfit members. So it makes it even harder to verify. The podcast is heavy handed and just okay, IMO. But they lay it on pretty thick that this Ken Tekiela was a hitter for The Outfit and he ran whorehouses.Patrickgold wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 8:11 pm New podcast called crookcounty. It’s supposedly about a Chicago hit man nobody knew about. His name is Kenny “the kid” Tekiela. Anybody hear of him?
They mention, IIRC, he started working in the early 80's for a made guy who was the son of Chicago's Chop Shop king. Who would that be? Whose son? Al Pilotto's? Jimmy Catura's? Later he goes on to say he then worked for another made guy who was a crew boss who was a well kept gangster. And who ran all the whorehouses for the outfit in the unincorporated parts of cook, dupage and kane counties.
Starting in episode 3 they are start to get into more of the day to day mafia/outfit stuff. The first 2 eps are more about the family and personal lives.
