Someone who knows a bit has told me that a guy named David Duran is allegedly the Cicero crew's inside guy in the Cicero city government and was yet another 12th Street Player. Don't know if this is true or not, but he seems to be an actual city employee so I'll leave it here as a lead for you guys to look into if you want.

There inside guy? The whole Cicero government including mayor Larry Dominic is theirs.

Yeah from what I hear it sounds like Youngstown from before Strollo flipped. Anyway, just thought it was interesting that they allegedly had a former 12th Street Player installed (or is that common practice? lol).

Elmwood Park is the same way with Skip Saviano. It's funny because these are historically italian american suburbs/neighborhoods that are now both like 70% Hispanic, and yet the town governments are just dominated by italians.

Elmwood Park is still majority white even though they have lost some of their Italian character. Hispanics have gained population but are not majority. Melrose Park, Cicero, Stone Park and some others are majority Hispanic

Elmwood Park is still majority Italian/Polish, while becoming more Mexican with each passing year. Melrose Park would be a better example

As of the 2020 census, the village of EP was at 35% Hispanic/Latino (not all Mexican either, of course; I know a bunch of Puerto Ricans from Humboldt Park who have since bought houses in EP). Polish population markedly increased since the 90s, as many of the Italians decamped for towns further out in the burbs, which I presume was what Patrick meant above by noting that EP is still majority white but less Italian than it was historically.

MP is over 75% Latino, while Cicero is ~90% Latino. In both cases, very strongly Mexican. This is for those reading who are from outside of Chicagoland and not familiar with these towns. They are *not at all* what they were like back in the heyday of the mob. EP hasn’t changed nearly as much by comparison. Cicero has one of the highest proportions of Latinos of any municipality in the US outside of CA, TX, or Dade County in Fl (and ranks at the same level as places like Hialeah and Brownsville). Because it’s in Chicagoland, a lot of people around the country I would think are simply unaware of simply how Latino a place like Cicero is today.

I actually found out about this when I moved to Chicago in 2013 and looked everything up about those places due to being a compulsive demography/demographics and urban geography nerd combined with being a mob buff. Was taken pretty aback by it.

The numbers are even worse since those stats either don’t count or under count the massive illegal population.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.
