I seem to recall felice saying that was a translation issue and that Lanni was acting captain of the crew.

It was. Lanni is a captain and has been for 5+ years.

It was. Lanni is a captain and has been for 5+ years.

The Italian coverage may have also confused the word "capo". In the Sicilian mafia (and early US) the term capo was used only for the boss, as that's the literal translation (boss / chief / head). In the US capodecina was shortened to "capo" over time but Italians may not understand that or just took it at face value.

Same reason I've pointed out before that Chicago calling their captains "boss" or "crew boss" is actually a closer translation of the original term. Capo = boss, capo =/= captain.
