Re: Gangland 12/22/2022
Weren't there rumors not long ago of Joe Lanni holding a Gambino administration position?
Re: Gangland 12/22/2022
I seem to recall felice saying that was a translation issue and that Lanni was acting captain of the crew.Browniety86 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 12:40 pm Weren't there rumors not long ago of Joe Lanni holding a Gambino administration position?
All roads lead to New York.
Re: Gangland 12/22/2022
It was. Lanni is a captain and has been for 5+ years.Wiseguy wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 2:05 pmI seem to recall felice saying that was a translation issue and that Lanni was acting captain of the crew.Browniety86 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 23, 2022 12:40 pm Weren't there rumors not long ago of Joe Lanni holding a Gambino administration position?
This is an example of how the translation got messed up. viewtopic.php?p=245634#p245634 Management = captain of Tommy Gambino and other Sicilians.

Re: Gangland 12/22/2022
The Italian coverage may have also confused the word "capo". In the Sicilian mafia (and early US) the term capo was used only for the boss, as that's the literal translation (boss / chief / head). In the US capodecina was shortened to "capo" over time but Italians may not understand that or just took it at face value.
Same reason I've pointed out before that Chicago calling their captains "boss" or "crew boss" is actually a closer translation of the original term. Capo = boss, capo =/= captain.

Heard rumor that joe lanni was picked up at his house in Staten Island. Nothing in news. Anyone else heard anything like that?
Re: Gangland 12/22/2022
Hopefully this means a Gambino indictment is coming.
Re: Gangland 12/22/2022
It’s weird. Person who told me seemed sure he was arrested. Apparently over a beating Lanni and somebody else gave to somebody in NJ. Was hoping Capeci would have something.
