I think Frustaci (or Alex Moretti?) was the guy that D'Arco lived under at the LIRA building on Spring Street. Place was stocked full of wiseguys.

I lean the other way based off info that Chin was placing people in his crew to watch over him while he was a captain, the inference being he didn’t fully trust Ida. The Persicos made Wild Bill the Underboss you think it’s because they really really trusted him?

You’re speculating like the rest of us that’s how you did.
We're all speculating/assuming JS.

Wild Bill UB was an olive branch post a war. Chin had absolute control. Apples and bowling balls.

So Frustaci was placed with Ida when Ida was a Capo? Chin then appointed him consig.
Does this sound like mistrust?

Logically it would appear whatever concerns Chin had, were put to bed.

Im simply pushing back on the "fact", Chin mistrusted Ida. The evidence appears contrary, despite Frustaci.

Chin was the most respected/feared boss since Gambino. Ida wouldve been insane to skim/make a move/whatever the concern was. And for good reason.

Im simply pushing back on that Ida 'had to be kept an eye on'. Chins internal enemies? Nonexistent. To my knowledge.

Cheers ears.
Good discussion JS. It's all spec.

As an aside, never heard if Westside Capo Dominick Cappolla (article). Died 2020. Is there bio on him?

But my point was that Bellomo was the Chins man and it didnt matter about seniority. Chin must have really been impressed with Bellomo.

Thanks for sharing. Many great details.

What people often overlook about the Genovese Family is how much internal factionalism existed. Because they run such a tight ship it's easy to assume everyone is on the same page but there was a great deal of factionalism between the 1950s and 70s and it's no surprise that looks to have continued into the Gigante era.

Technically whoever chins official underboss was next in line then Jimmy's Ida. I think he would have wanted to be official boss one day but him getting arrested fucked up his plan. Barney was street boss he wasn't higher up than Ida. This is all explained from a wire tap of gerry catena chewing out tommy eboli who was acting boss at 1 time as catena was official underboss while Vito genovese was in prison probably late 60tys

In his book, D'Arco says Ida was the one "really running things for the crew (Family)." He says Ida was the one who handled most of the issues between different Families.

It is pretty standard for the consigliere (acting or otherwise) to be a power in his own right next to the boss himself.
