I think quite a few guys read about themselves whether it's from articles or forums and blogs. IIRC Massino had a Gangland account and to jump over into Canada, Vito Rizzuto had a gangland and I believe had books on himself. Raynald Desjardins text messages revealed he found it hilarious that journalists were calling him the "new Godfather of Montreal" because he wasn't even Italian. Andrea Scoppa constantly complained about journalists, especially when it involved his name and he had Renaud's Cellule 8002 vs Mafia book, Nicaso & Edward's Business or Blood book and several Journal de Montreal papers. Mary-Josée Viau & Guy Dion had a copy of Cedilot & Noel's Mafia Inc book and got reamed out by the hitman-turned-informant for "reading a bunch of lies." And finally Francesco Del Balso threatened journalist Felix Seguin for releasing a story on him that showed where his family lived.Amershire_Ed wrote: ↑Thu Jul 07, 2022 6:14 pm This is kinda related but Pennisi has been adamant that guys in the life will check out blogs and websites that report about “the life”. He knew guys that would read Capeci. Id love to know who the wiseguys are that cruise the internet checking out what the public has to say. Like who is the highest ranking mobster to ever check out a message board or website.
I'm sure I've forgotten some and I'm sure there's plenty of cases of US mobsters showing interest in what is being said about them by journalists, forums and blogs.
