Run ins with mobsters
so, growing up around these guys and still living with a ton of them, ive had the occasion to get to know some. and not being in the life, most are decent people.normal interactions, even some family dinners etc but recently a friend had a situation with chickie demartino, lets just say this guy is scary off his rocker. i wont go too into it, but it was about almost litetrally nothing at all. my friend is a legit guy now having did almost 6 years, he just wants to work and take care of his kids. this guy chickie pulls a gun lets him know hes been gone 20 years but hes back now. i think it was a $50 loan seriously. scary, serious guy.
so anyone else have any runs in similiar

So, Chickie is still Chickie.

Reminds me of that blog Pennisi was quoting Johnny Sideburns and one of the guys he talked about was George Zappola...."these guys come home and think it's the 80's"
Re: Run ins with mobsters
Doesn't sound like a happenstance run in to me. Somebody owed someone money

Re: Run ins with mobsters
Never had a run-in per se but in college we were at a strip bar in Western IL (maybe 4 hours from Chicago). Before walking in, we saw a limo outside which was rare since this was a club in a TINY town, like 200 people tiny.
In the corner we could see this older guy sitting with one of the dancers. Pretty soon we see them both leave so I asked another stripper where they were going. She said ‘he’s some mobster from Chicago.’ We left a few minutes later and the limo was off and headed back east.
I can still kind of picture the guy in my head. I picture him looking like the guy who played Bobby Bacala’s dad in the Sopranos. This was probably 1998.

Re: Run ins with mobsters
I've seen the guy John Ragano from the Bonnanos around in Queens a few times, wouldn't call it a "run in" really, but had a small talk / casual conversation that actually lasted a while, outside of the Esquire Diner, while we were both waiting for a table to open up. He was with an older guy who he was clearly deferential to, who seemed like a mean old bastard, and he introduced himself as Paul. Whoever this Paul was definitely had the juice between the two of them, or had the Ragano guy's respect and admiration at the very least.
Always wondered who that guy was, especially as more info came out about the HB/OZP Bonnanos about 2 years after this encounter, when Asaro (and Ragano) got indicted. Even when the younger faction of that crew went down in 2017... nothing. No info. Could have maybe been someone from another crew or another family all together, but it was clear Ragano (who was made) was deferential and overly respectful as hell toward this guy, which made me think the guy was made and then some, himself. Short old non descript looking guy, carried himself like a mean old fuck

Yeah bazoo is always around. Are you sure "paul" wasn't vinny asaro because he was known to love the esquire and the description fits. I can definitely see him giving you a fake namenewera_212 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 02, 2022 8:35 pm I've seen the guy John Ragano from the Bonnanos around in Queens a few times, wouldn't call it a "run in" really, but had a small talk / casual conversation that actually lasted a while, outside of the Esquire Diner, while we were both waiting for a table to open up. Re: Run ins with mobsters
Maybe we should start a thread on the over/under of Chickies freedom.
