Buffalo man admits to fraud charges over Covid-19 test kits, relief aid
Patrick Lakamp Jun 27, 2022
"A 49-year-old Buffalo man whom prosecutors previously called an associate of “mafia” and “organized crime” figures in Buffalo pleaded guilty Monday to drug, gun and Covid-19 fraud counts.
Joseph C. Bella III faces anywhere from 37 to 57 months in prison, depending on whether U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara follows the sentencing guidelines agreed to by the prosecution and defense and how he rules on aggravating and mitigating factors.
Joseph Bella of Buffalo admitted to three counts of Covid-19 fraud. Federal law enforcement authorities said he obtained Covid-19 test kits under false pretenses and sought resell them. He also admitted to making false claims to obtain a Covid relief loan.
Attorney Thomas J. Eoannou, who represents Bella, disputed Bella has connections to organized crime, and prosecutors did not bring up the issue during the plea hearing.
This case started out with the government alleging Joe was a mafia associate involved in organized crime," Eoannou told The Buffalo News after the plea hearing. "This case has nothing to do with the mafia. At the end of the day, this plea is about a minuscule amount of drugs, gummies and marijuana and a 40-year-old shotgun that was given to him and the financial crimes..."

I really don’t know but wouldn’t be surprised if it is Vic Sansanese. Fino has written that Vic is sneaky but is trusted by Big Joe.

Fino indicated That Lou Ciminelli’s dad answered to the Buffalo family. Lou was named in a Local 210 RICO along with Falzone, Sansanese, and other Buffalo mob associates and members. Dominic Musitano Sr.’s brother-in-law has passed away. Vincenzo Alampi is an uncle to brothers Pat, Angelo, and Dominic Musitano Jr. — the obituary perhaps confirms that Pino Avignone is a first cousin to these three brothers.antimafia wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 1:34 pmI've seen Avignone variously described as the adopted brother of the biological Musitano brothers or as a stepbrother. In Dominic Musitano Sr.'s newspaper obituary, Avignone is listed as a surviving family member before brothers Pat, Dominic Jr., and Angelo (as well as sister Carmie) -- see link to my Evernote item below; look in the upper-left corner of the PDF. The obituary does not make reference to Pino as a stepson.willychichi wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 12:40 pm [snip]
I thought Giuseppe "Pino" Avignone was the Musitano's cousin?

Re: Buffalo/Ontario Mob Acitivity
As I mentioned in a later post, it appears Lee’s Dad is Frankie Coppola. With a little more research it appears city councilman Alfred T Coppola is Lee’s cousin, the son of Sam “Scarface” and Lucy Coppola. Here is Lucy’s obituary. https://buffalonews.com/news/lucy-v-cop ... 4a96c.htmlNickleCity wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 11:46 am
Fun fact: The Coppola name has a history in the Buffalo mob. The family was connected to the DiCarlo gang in the 1930’s. For example there was Sam “Scareface” Coppola, Frankie Coppola, Steve Coppola, and Iggy Coppola. In the book DiCarlo: Buffalo’s First Family of Crime these individuals are mentioned with the likes of known members and associates of the Buffalo crime family such as: Sam, Steve, Horace, and Joe Pieri, “Doc” Alessi, and John Camilleri.
If one does a little Facebook sleuthing, it is easy to see that cousins Albert and Marc Coppola, NYS/Buffalo city counsel politicians, are very friendly with many individuals I believe to be in or highly connected to the Buffalo mob. Of course maybe it is just because they all grew up in that close-knit westside Italian neighborhood.
I love what Albert said to the Buffalo News:
According to Harold J. Boreanaz, Todaro's attorney, FBI agents also spent their day near the restaurant, snapping photos from a house across the street -- a claim neither confirmed nor denied by the federal agency.
Coppola said he doesn't care who takes his picture when he goes into La Nova on St. Joseph's Day.
"Nobody is ducking their heads. There's nothing to be ashamed about, going there," Coppola said. "This is a charity event. I only know one side to the Joe Todaro story -- he's one of the first guys to help any charity that needs help. I've been involved with running charity events, and when you pick up the phone and ask Joe for some pizzas, he's there to help, no questions asked.”
See: https://buffalonews.com/news/those-who- ... ed028.html
(By the way, I believe the St. Jospeph’s Day Table that La Nova proudly puts on was developed by the PR people they hired to rehabilitate their image.)

***I do not know if Al or Marc are in anyway related to Lee. Or if Lee is related to the 1930’s gangsters. However, given the fact that there tend to be longstanding family connections to the mafia, this needs to be investigated a little more. Especially given the fact that Lee has “a close relation” in the mafia that protected him and because he has had “sources in the mafia” feeding him information.

Re: Buffalo/Ontario Mob Acitivity
^^^ Alfred T Coppola also wrote a letter asking Judge for sentencing leniency for Leonard Falzone:
Federal prosecutors and FBI agents see Leonard F. Falzone as a mob loan shark, enforcer and hit man who is unfit to roam Buffalo's streets.
But in the eyes of two Buffalo Common Council members and several prominent professionals and businessmen, Falzone is a trustworthy union official, a good friend and a loving family man who poses no danger to the community.
Twenty-eight people -- some well-known -- sent letters of support for Falzone to the federal judge who is scheduled to sentence Falzone next week.
"Yes, I wrote a letter. I'm not going to duck the issue," Delaware Council Member Alfred T. Coppola said Tuesday. "All I know about Leonard is what I've seen myself. If someone says something derogatory, unless I have proof, I let it fly over my head."
Coppola said he has known Falzone more than 20 years, often talking with him at a vegetable market on Hertel Avenue that used to be run by a mutual friend.
"Leonard has a large family in North Buffalo, and a lot of them are my constituents. His brother came to my office and asked me to write the letter to (District Judge Richard J.) Arcara," Coppola said. "I've never seen Leonard commit a crime or harm anyone. If I did, I wouldn't have written the letter."

Good thing BC prisons just have Plasma torches lying around
My bet is if they don't catch him in 24 hours he'll be gone. Last time he went on the run he lasted 7 months in Greece and only got caught because of a random police traffic stop. His brother also went on the run in 2010 and wasn't seen until 2015 in Colombia where he was caught with a fake passport. He then disappeared for another 3 years until he was shot and killed in Mexico.
