I don't think so.PolackTony wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 7:30 pmNone of these were member informants though, correct?Adam wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 9:07 am
Well I think it was in 1993 that the feds referenced having six informants providing information on the Detroit mob. But in 1985 a good candidate to let them know about Lapiana would be someone like Lenny Schultz who was an FBI informant at the time. He could have been someone who said that Lapiana got made for taking part in the Ralph Proctor murder in 1984.

Great info Scott.
Its noteworthy the FBI had the Binos at 400 with the Westside at 200. Such an overestimate is interesting. Guessing the Binos were around 225-250 in the 80's? Anyone have any data there?
FYI Scott cant wait until Friday Apr 15th

I'm wondering if that 400 figure was a typo and they meant to write 300. That would match other figures released from that era.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

The number from the 1993 list was 206, so significant attrition would have had to occur for the number to drop that far. They didn't have the members broken down for the NY families, so I'm wondering if this was just bad intel or a typo, as you already mentioned.Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Wed Feb 23, 2022 12:48 pm I'm wondering if that 400 figure was a typo and they meant to write 300. The fact they had specific numbers for all the other families but just threw out generic, rounded figures for the Gambinos and Genovese makes me think they were just ballparking it on those two families, for whatever reason. Though the 400 for the Gambinos definitely doesn't make sense. Stands out much like when one report had 195 members for the Bonannos during the 1980s.Snakes wrote: ↑Wed Feb 23, 2022 1:34 pmThe number from the 1993 list was 206, so significant attrition would have had to occur for the number to drop that far. I remember reading in the book Donnie Brasco how big a deal Lefty made it out to be to meet with the Boss of Milwaukee Frank Balisteri. All the hoops and formal introductions and how big this was.
There were 11 members of this family. A glorified crew. LOL
