I agree that it most likely is Corigliano Calabro. FWIW, Di Bernardo is a surname in Corigliano too.

EDIT: Actually, looking over some documents, Camigliano, Caserta may also be an option. The birthplace of both Bernard and his wife Marianna Di Iorio was spelled "Canngrello" on his naturalization document, so not much help.

On his naturalization document, Bernardo gave his birth year as 1870 and there is a birth document for a Bernardo di Bernardo in Camigliano in 1870.

I considered that too. It's very possible that Camigliano is the correct choice. I didn't look up Bernardo di Bernardo's birth record, so you might be right.

Also, Joseph Paul LoPiccolo, b 04/28/1918 matches with someone with that name/date as being born and having died in Chicago whose parents were from Monreale and Palermo. Not saying that someone can't move from their hometown, join the mafia in another city and then move back home to die but it did raise my eyebrows, especially since there were LoPiccolos in NY you'd expect a JPL to have been born closer to home.

No, John Mingoia was originally a lower Manhattan guy who later moved to Staten Island. Died in 1990.
