Chin's Captains?

Re: Chin's Captains?
Looks like Ardito was identified in '88 but he should have been in prison until 91?

What about Baldie Longo and Sausage Barbato
Re: Chin's Captains?
If Patsy Parello was the one who officially took over the Bronx/Yonkers crew in '92 when Larry Centore died, it should mean Joe Dente Sr was captain of a different crew in the late 70s until his death in the late 90s. Likely of Santobello's crew.
It seems like this crew broke off from Centore's crew, but if it existed before Joe Dente's ascenion to capo, then I'm not sure who its previous capo was. Buster Ardito? He was in the admin by the late 70s so Dente Sr could have taken his spot?
Rambling, sorry.

It looks like the Genovese Family had the number of 14 crews as a standard norm. However, they could have had more crews in the late 1970s and early 1980s than just 14. Cafaro said something to the effect of "Our Family went back to 14 captains, the number we always had."

When when was Cafaro referring to? When Gigante took over officially for Lombardo?HairyKnuckles wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 1:52 pm It looks like the Genovese Family had the number of 14 crews as a standard norm. Re: Chin's Captains?
I don´t know. But I assume he refers to the time frame when he was active (mid 1970s to 1987ish).InCamelot wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 8:39 pmWhen when was Cafaro referring to? Re: Chin's Captains?
He still held his captain´s rank although in prison. I tend to believe Rudy Santobello acted for him at that time. He was under Ardito in the early 1980s.
Dente Sr was a skipper of a different crew. Made skipper later (not in the 1970s). Still no solid info on his crew but he lived in California on and off, which is odd if he had a crew back in NY.InCamelot wrote: ↑Mon Oct 19, 2020 9:12 pm If Patsy Parello was the one who officially took over the Bronx/Yonkers crew in '92 when Larry Centore died, it should mean Joe Dente Sr was captain of a different crew in the late 70s until his death in the late 90s. No. Prisco was given a new, small crew when Chins old one (Canterino crew) was split up around 1990. Prisco came up under Chin. So did Larry Dentico.

Re: Chin's Captains?
But when he came out prison in the early 2000s, wasn't he based in the Bronx? Right around the time Parello went to prison?HairyKnuckles wrote: ↑Thu Oct 22, 2020 1:00 am No. Prisco was given a new, small crew when Chins old one (Canterino crew) was split up around 1990. Re: Chin's Captains?
Yes. Prisco was based in the Bronx but he was a Gigante crew member. Not all Gigante crew members were based in Greenwich Village. Joe Valachi is a prime example. Allthough based in East Harlem/Bronx, he belonged to Tony Bender´s crew. The Pagano brothers and others are examples too. Fritzy Giovanelli, another Greenwich Village crew member, was based in Ridgewood, Queens. Dom Canterino lived in Brooklyn etc.InCamelot wrote: ↑Thu Oct 22, 2020 9:17 amBut when he came out prison in the early 2000s, wasn't he based in the Bronx? Re: Chin's Captains?
Right, I follow that. I don't mean he wasn't given Village crew members at one point (in your post you said around the early 90s). I just mean after he came out of prison in the early 2000s, his old crew was gone, and he was Bronx based. Since Parello was away right around the same time, would it make sense that he took over the old Centore/Parello crew? Because as soon as Prisco goes back to prison - Parello is out again.HairyKnuckles wrote: ↑Thu Oct 22, 2020 1:18 pmYes. Prisco was based in the Bronx but he was a Gigante crew member. Unless he took over the Dente Sr crew, which I had thought Santobello ran until his death. The only other option is a whole new crew formed out there in the Bronx for when Prisco gets out of jail.
