Howard Beach Mob ‘Boss’ Mentioned on Joe Rogan

Post by Ozgoz »

Joe De Sena (Spartan Race guy) was on Joe Rogan here,

https://youtu.be/wCSDF0RNuXY at the 10:00 minute mark.

He has a cool story about some (actually very very good) life/business advice from his local mob boss and I wonder if we can narrow it down, which is unlikely I suspect but...

1. He referred to him as ‘one of the big bosses’ but you know that to the public a powerful soldier could easily be taken for a boss. I personally get the vibe it might have been a capo but that’s just my hunch.

2. He specifically said Howard Beach which is/was what, Gambino and Bonnano?

3. He said it was when he was 12. De Cena was born in ‘69 so this would’ve occurred in ‘81.

So question is what Capo’s (maybe) we’re knockinh about Howard Beach in ‘81 dishing out life advice?

Gotti lived in Howard Beach, didn't he? Of course he wasn't a boss in 1981 but then again neither was Massino.
Glick told author Nicholas Pileggi that he expected to meet a banker-type individual, but instead, he found Alvin Baron to be a gruff, tough-talking cigar-chomping Teamster who greeted him with, “What the fuck do you want?”

Interesting if true.

The recent Pennissi rat testimony on the Luke's did not cite an active Queens crew. I believe he mentioned 2 Bronx crews, a Manhattan crew, a Long island crew, a jersey crew and 2 Staten island (including the Brooklyn remnants now based in tottenville).

Gene Borello has also said something along the lines of "Howard Beach is all Gambino and bonanno".

Joe Desena is a capo with the Lukes ,uncle of the kid Tuccio who was around Merlino ,I'm not sure where he lives now , but supposedly owns and runs a Cafe in Little Italy

I have no clue how you came to that conclusion. The guy didn't say the mobster's name, he didn't give any identifying details about the mobster other than that he lived in Queens.

Is there something I'm missing?

"What happened was, my other neighbor was a big organized-crime figure in the Bonanno family,” he says. “My dad lost everything. This guy was just being nice. He said, ‘Hey, come clean my pool.’ I cleaned his pool, so then he gave me the head of another organized-crime family’s pool to clean, and then it was John Gotti’s pool.
Definitely Massino.
