I saw some reports from the early 1980s (possibly sourcing other reports from the late 1970s) and a well-connected contemporary Outfit figure was cooperating. He identified Aleman as a member but not sure how broad his view of the organization was, only that he seemed to have an inside view of operations under the Ferriola crew.

When James Basile cooperated and testified, he said he became a "soldier" in the 1970s and later became an "underboss" under a "crew boss" (captain). We know he was using underboss differently from the common use of the term, but was Basile what we normally call a made member when he cooperated? I've seen nothing about an induction/non-induction where his status became official and his references to "soldier" and "underboss" are specifically in the context of certain criminal operations.

So basically The Calabreses killed this man because they supplied the gun for the Giancana hit according to Frank Calabrese jr.

One theory was that Albert Tocco ordered Maniaci's head and Nicoletti and Nick D'Andrea carried it out. Another is that Frank Peter Balistrieri and Steve Di Salvo of Milwaukee were responsible.

Well they had a lot of "teaming ups" so they can be looked upon as two different crews....when he took over Chinatown, LaPietra was still present in Cicero and as a matter of fact, back in the 60s he had one or two headquarters in that same area...years later Sarno had interests on the south side, and Nick Ferriola entered the Chinatown crew etc....

On a personal note: My wife and I went for an early walk this morning down by the lake. The weather is absolutely gorgeous in Toronto right now. At one point on our walk, I casually told her about CG 6690 and that I had finally figured out his secret identity. (It had been a bit of an obsession of mine for sometime). She looked at me with a gentle smile, nodded her head and said, "That's nice. What should I take out for dinner tonight?"

I think I need to get a life.
