First he said there are more guys on the street than anytime in the last 15-20 years but the pie they are dividing up is smaller than its ever been. Which is an obvious statement but I think it’s also the best possible summary of Philly. Then he said if there were no major busts in 2020, it’s probably not worth it to continue to cover them.

They just seem to be at a loss for what these guys rackets are these days outside of a little gambling and house flipping mortgage stuff. They just know they like to party and have a good time.
From a short term, self interest point of view, the best thing they could do is stop making as many guys. If the pie is getting smaller, have less guys reaching for a piece. Or it will be the higher ups taking the lion's share with the guys at the bottom scraping by. Which then begs the question of why get made in the first place.

Pie to divide? That's assuming one guy getting is another guy losing etc. Not the way "this thing" works ideally but with Scarfo it became all about the money and the power....I think some of the guys have learned from the 80s/90s that going after easy money by shaking down guys and strong arming everyone is an easy ticket to 10 years in prison. Some have developed more sophisticated ways of operating, making money, but doing it quietly. Guys have realized the power to make quasi-legit money by being in the "fixed bid" club, so to speak. It's not about the money, its about the power and opportunity/advantages that come from being in the group. The more you stay low, the better off you are. Just doesn't give George anything to report on, but who cares about him, he had a good career. He should be the guy taking a toothbrush to Nicky Scarfo's grave each week.

Serious question... how the fuck does GA and DS know how much money these guys are bringing in?
That’s the guy, Adriana. My Uncle Tony. The guy I’m going to hell for.

From the info available.

Boss: Merlino
Acting Boss: Lancelotti
Consigliere: Ligambi - ?
Capos: Grande, Licata, Angelina and Ciancaglini

If I remember right GA and DS IDed Ciancaglini and Angelina as Capos. That would be 4 of the 4 or 5 they mentioned. Who could be the possible 5th? Lancelotti if still holds that rank. Or maybe Borgesi if still does but GA and DS have said on more than one occasion that he is pretty much out of it. Wonder where that leaves Mazzone. Seems the family is a little top heavy at this point.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

They kinda dance around the fact that the younger guys sell drugs. And some of the older ones too.

"Gee I wonder how they make their money...."

Perisano Piccolo Servidio all selling hard drugs and on the wire they said that Grande owed them for two pounds of weed.

There's very little left besides joker poker, stolen goods, scams, and drugs.

They still book too. Lots of guys just like betting with local bookies. Casinos don't loan you as much money as fast.

Year End Review 2024
https://www.youtube.com/live/cEv-HwLCNo ... YIpirQDUbC

- They've agree Merlino is out by his choice or shelved.
- They've heard Mazzone will be home sooner than later.
- Massimino recently had a hearing for his supervised release violations and details of it will be released soon.
- Persiano will be sentenced January, 2025.
- Persiano is working other cases elsewhere in the US with the feds.
- Martin Taccetta only has 2-3 years left on his sentence.
- Anastasia and Schratwieser have a project involving the Philly story. Sounds like maybe a documentary or movie.

Another interesting note is when they mentioned John Ciancaglini Schratwieser said this:
Another member of organized crime, former member, shelved member, call him what you want.
Wonder if this is because of the incident over the summer at Chickie's and Pete's with Baldino or if it was prior. Although, he doesn't sounds 100% on whether he's shelved or not.

This video from two years ago (about 2:40), they have Borgesi as running the show, so not really surprised they still feel that way, gonna give the new one a listen now

They've gone back and forth on Borgesi and Lancellotti since the 2020 indictment.

A more condensed version:

Schratweiser: George, let's go over the highlights of the Philly mob in 2024 as we look to 2025.

Anastasia: There's nothing going on. I'm glad I retired 12 years ago.

They do like 3 podcasts or "mob talk" a year and they still can not get enough intel to do a story.
