Vito Genovese the worst boss?

I always see that Genovese was the worst boss in his family since he was acting boss in the 1930s, because of Apalachin, Valachi and many other things, now my doubt is: he was really the worst head of the Genovese family?

Yes he could be the worst boss the Genoveses ever had. Apalachin and Valachi like you mentioned. He didn't last long on the streets.

Yes it's a hard question to answer, they haven't really had what you would call a terrible boss.

Yeah, they were from the Valachi Charts. Except the Magliocco Family got changed to Colombo, think that may have been because Magliocco died/was replaced in the middle of the Valachi Hearings. Not sure though.

The fact that he was acting boss after Luciano's arrest, his relationship with Mussolini in Italy, and it seems that in the 1950s because he's a more street guy, he got respect for trying to kill Costello, but still he seems to be always labeled the worst boss.
From what I read, the idea of the meeting being in Apalachin was Stefano Magaddino, so Genovese is not 100% to blame for what happened.

The families were never meant to have names. There was a purposeful level of ambiguity involved with knowing who was with who. You had to be in the know to figure it out. They didn't go around saying 'Hey we're the Genovese family' the families got their media labels from the Valachi Hearings (with the exception of the Colombos) as Camo and Frank stated above not from bosses sending out memos with name change orders a la Massino.

The thing about Valachi is; weve had threads about what Family he really was.... Bonanno, Genovese or Lukes.

I think the consesus was somehow the Lukes...
Even tho he was made by the Bonannos
And said he was in the Genovese
