Re: Michael franzese
MF is another one who's story has snowballed. What started out as Acting Capo for his father has snowballed into some Colombo plan for succession involving his grooming to be Allie Boy's Underboss... When he gives his college lectures, he refers to things in present tense: "On our life" and "we have a thing for that." He argues against illegal gambling, but he sure loves to dress the part, throw in an occasional forgetaboutit as a punchline to spark laughter. The only thing that separates him from Fratto is that he was successful. (Anyone ever see Son of a Gun? http://www.jfsc.tv/promo/)
MF may have found religion, but he sure continues to profit off the mob and his background which he has banked into a semi-affluent lifestyle just as Jesus surely intended.

He stated it on one of the many documentaries he did. It's on youtube.Pete wrote:Where did you hear this about being groomed to be allies ub?Chris Christie wrote:MF is another one who's story has snowballed. Re: Michael franzese
I have seen interviewers refer to him as a mob boss to his face and he doesn't correct them, just nods his head when they ask those Pulitzer-winning questions in a phony incredulous tone like, "So as a mob boss, you're saying you had no problem ordering a murder or beating?" To which he looks down, smirks and gives some explanation about "the life".
I have to give him credit, though... he's really made the whole ex-mobster schtick work for him and he seems to get some of the better gigs when you compare him to some of the other desperate rat feebs who have tried to hit the circuit. I have no doubt that he was one of the more financially successful guys on the streets in his heyday, though I do question the weekly income he claims to have been making during the gas scam.
As for him referring to things in the present tense -- didn't both of the Bonannos do that as well?

Yeah, but they didn't write about "Quitting" the mob, by quitting I mean renouncing "the life" and turning to an order of humility and service to man.B. wrote:I have seen interviewers refer to him as a mob boss to his face and he doesn't correct them, just nods his head when they ask those Pulitzer-winning questions in a phony incredulous tone like, "So as a mob boss, you're saying you had no problem ordering a murder or beating?" I'd love to go to one of Franzese's motivational speaking gigs and just pester him with questions about making ceremonies, history of various members, etc. "I'm here as a representative of the Black Hand Forum and I demand answers."
Re: Michael franzese
Most of his motivational gigs are Christian evangelism. He has discussed the making ceremony in several interviews and mentioned some names.
Re: Michael franzese
One thing I was confused about was he actually sonnys real son at the end of the book there's this story about how his mom says he really was his biological son they said he was adopted because they weren't married yet or something but I wasn't sure if that was BS

Re: Michael franzese
He believed another man was his biological father but later found out that Sonny was his biological father all the time. Can't give more specifics because my copies of his books are in storage.

Hilarious.
Re: Michael franzese
