Re: DETROIT MOBSTER “JOE HOOKS” DIES PEACEFULLY & FREE AT 87
This is a list of Detroit mob figures who most likely knew exactly/or fairly close to exatly what happened in the Hoffa hit, either first hand or otherwise: they are all dead.
Joe Zerilli - Boss of the family, gave final go-ahead
Jack Tocco - "Acting" boss of the family, was his uncle's eyes & ears overseeing the conspiracy
Tony Giacalone - Street boss of family, "quarterbacked" the entire conspiracy, in charge of coordinating details of the hit
Billy Giacalone - Capo in family (Tony Jack's little brother), was Detroit mob's "man on the scene," the person in charge of the actual hit itself
Pete "Bozzy" Vitale - Capo in family, in charge of coordinating "clean up" in Hoffa hit, owned incinerator
Jimmy Quasarano - Capo in family, tasked with communicating with "The Commission" in NYC
Tony Palazzolo -Vitale's driver, in charge of clean up of Hoffa hit/body disposal "on the ground," probably driving car that kidnapped Hoffa, possibly one of the hitters
"Swinging Sammy" Serra, enforcer in family &Joe Zerilli's brother in law, possibly one of the hitters
Carlo Licata, Soldier in family, brother-in-law to Jack Tocco, owned house where Hoffa hit took place (ended up dead at house on 6 year anniversary of hit)

Quasarano wasn’t a capo. He always answered directly to Priziola

It provides a boost to the economy but I’d rather have locals redeveloping the city that once had a lot to offer. It’s not my job to judge how and who wants to invest and what their motive is, only that opportunity exists in areas that have declined over the years since the collapse of manufacturing. It’s been done all over the country in areas that were ravaged.Philly d wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2019 9:07 pmSo are you saying it’s a prudent investment?JCB1977 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2019 8:32 amDan Gilbert seems to think there is ton of money in Detroit for investing. Are you aware of this? It's like in the 80's when Trump developed that fucking shit hole known as Atlantic City. Rustbelt cities have been getting a ton of money poured into them.SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2019 8:16 amNone of the big four are opening up car factories in Detroit any more. Likely ever. It’ll be Mexico or South America. And that’s before full automation. There’s zero reason to suggest Detroit has any potential commercial opportunities/development on any large scale in the foreseeable future and when the interest rate cycle ends and rates rise in a meaningful quantity land in Detroit will be worth less than the paper the deed is written on.Adam wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2019 7:17 amActually, in the late 80s there was this relatively big story where Joseph Giacalone(Anthony's son) and three other guys got 40,000,000 for some acres of land from Detroit to help build a Chrysler factory. Yeah. Forty million in 80s dollars. They had bought it a few years before for a few hundred thousand.

Jimmy Q was recognized as a capo at that point, handling Papa John Priziola's crew of dope peddlers, bookies and numbers runners. He was Priziola's protégé. Priziola was consigliere but always had a crew underneath him. Quasarano, married to the daughter of Sicilian don Vito Vitale, became Tocco's consigliere in the late 70s.

Quasarano was mentioned as capo only once in MF report on other families 1960-1969. Mike Polizzi was mentioned as a capo of priziola’s crew in early 60s, where Jimmy Q listed as a soldier in his crewscott22 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2019 10:44 pm Jimmy Q was recognized as a capo at that point, handling Papa John Priziola's crew of dope peddlers, bookies and numbers runners. A government subsidy or tax break doesn’t change the fundamental reason people leave an area.
Opportunities determine population movement. How is the automation and utilization of off shore cheap labour changed by a temporal governmental infusion of tax payer dollars change those dynamics?
The historical certainty has been in one direction. Suddenly that is reversed?
I wouldn’t put my money on that bet. Hope doesn’t change reality.

Not to quibble, but while Mary Ferrell is a great resource, it's not 100% accurate. It's incredibly useful, but it's limited by the fact that it's information from people who weren't always in the know or who thought things were the case but in hindsight we realize were actually inaccurate. But the FBI to their credit cataloged all the information they received. A perfect example from Detroit is mob member Mario Agosta. MF FBI documents list him as presumed killed by the Detroit mob in the 1960s, but he's alive and well in the 80s running a Giacalone sports book. But at the time informants thought he had been murdered.Eline2015 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2019 11:59 pmQuasarano was mentioned as capo only once in MF report on other families 1960-1969. I agree 100%. Opportunity elsewhere is why people leave. It’s certainly why I left Youngstown. But I still admire these ravaged cities and coming up with great ideas and new industry to help revitalize an area...not restore to prominence but certainly to make them habitable.SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2019 1:05 am A government subsidy or tax break doesn’t change the fundamental reason people leave an area.

I agree, but I’m would insist about Polizzi that he was a capo, and Quasarano was a soldier, directly answered to priziolaAdam wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2019 4:51 amNot to quibble, but while Mary Ferrell is a great resource, it's not 100% accurate. Fine, but since Mary Ferrell has almost no information from the 70s I think it's kind of hard to insist that Quasarano couldn't be a capo in 1975 since Ferrell covers the 60s.Eline2015 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2019 8:00 amI agree, but I’m would insist about Polizzi that he was a capo, and Quasarano was a soldier, directly answered to priziolaAdam wrote: ↑Wed Jun 12, 2019 4:51 amNot to quibble, but while Mary Ferrell is a great resource, it's not 100% accurate. Both Jimmy Q & Big Mike Polizzi were capos at that point. Polizzi was Priziola's son-in-law and the crime family's "CFO." He never had a crew underneath him, while Jimmy Q ran Papa John's rackets and controlled Priziola's soldiers.

What do you mean by "CFO"? In the Corporate world it means "Chief Financial Officer". Is it really accurate to start giving these guys "Corporate Titles"?

He put it in parentheses in case you had not noticed. It just shows his opinion of his role as comparable to the legal world as it pertained to the family. Not hard to comprehend IMO. Madoff had an official title too, and he was a bigger crook and POS than anyone in the mafia.Confederate wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 6:13 pmWhat do you mean by "CFO"? I just wanted him to elaborate more on Polizzi's role as "CFO" in relation to the other guys in the Detroit Mob since they mostly were all involved in seperate rackets as opposed to a Chief Financial Officer in a Corporation which is much more centralized than the Mafia.Fughedaboutit wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 7:07 pmHe put it in parentheses in case you had not noticed.
