Ghettos all over the country have been redeveloped or have given property owners huge profits by investing in shit. My father and his siblings inherited about 1200 acres of land that my great grandfather owned on the OH/PA line. He had 200 acres drilled for fracking by a company that paid $4000 per acre. Not a bad days pay cut up 3 ways. Plus, they get a monthly % of the profits for the natural gas wells that were installed. Part of the acreage is in an area that was considered shit because the very beginning of it borders the ghetto until you get a little closer to the PA line. Lots of opportunities in Detroit

Actually, in the late 80s there was this relatively big story where Joseph Giacalone(Anthony's son) and three other guys got 40,000,000 for some acres of land from Detroit to help build a Chrysler factory. Yeah. Forty million in 80s dollars. They had bought it a few years before for a few hundred thousand.

Fracking has been a bonanza for Ohio and has given the state a shot in the arm. That's awesome about your dad. If I'm doing the math right he's a millionaire now right? I'm making six figures for the first time this year at 39 and I think I'm rich.JCB1977 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2019 5:12 am Ghettos all over the country have been redeveloped or have given property owners huge profits by investing in shit. None of the big four are opening up car factories in Detroit any more. Likely ever. It’ll be Mexico or South America. And that’s before full automation. There’s zero reason to suggest Detroit has any potential commercial opportunities/development on any large scale in the foreseeable future and when the interest rate cycle ends and rates rise in a meaningful quantity land in Detroit will be worth less than the paper the deed is written on.Adam wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2019 7:17 amActually, in the late 80s there was this relatively big story where Joseph Giacalone(Anthony's son) and three other guys got 40,000,000 for some acres of land from Detroit to help build a Chrysler factory. He worked hard, saved, invested and sacrificed so I had better opportunities. I'm forever grateful to him and my mom, good people, honest people.Ivan wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2019 7:27 amFracking has been a bonanza for Ohio and has given the state a shot in the arm. I'm sorry, but you don't seem to know much about current Detroit real estate. Certain areas are hot right now. They're going through a development boom. Not all of Detroit, but certain areas. There is money to be made there. Not saying its Detroit mob money, but just in general.SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2019 8:16 amNone of the big four are opening up car factories in Detroit any more. Likely ever. Dan Gilbert seems to think there is ton of money in Detroit for investing. Are you aware of this? It's like in the 80's when Trump developed that fucking shit hole known as Atlantic City. Rustbelt cities have been getting a ton of money poured into them.SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2019 8:16 amNone of the big four are opening up car factories in Detroit any more. Likely ever. Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, St. Louis, Detroit...all 5 of these rust belt cities have been or are going through redevelopment. Pittsburgh has become a Bio Tech hub, the entire riverfront has been redeveloped. Same in Cleveland around Lake Erie and the Cuyahoga and Ohio River. The Buffalo waterfront has been redeveloped. Will manufacturing come back the way it once was, HELL NO. Those days are gone forever. Tech companies are coming in, engineering and bio medical companies have been planting their flags in some of these rust belt cities cause they are tired of paying prices in NY, Chicago, San Fran and L.A. Even downtown Youngstown has been redeveloped. One of my best friends bought 3 buildings in Downtown Youngstown and asked me 20 years ago to go in with him. I laughed in his face. He paid $30k for all three buildings. Each building now is worth over $300k a piece. He has two of them rented out to businesses and kept a building where he has his law office and a bar downstairs. The city of Youngstown gave him $100k per building to renovate and a 20 year tax abatement. When he bought them, nobody would walk down the street....now it's a mecca for entertainment, bars, restaurants, retail stores plus Denise DeBartolo York has her performing arts center on the same street. Lots of $$$ to be made in the rust belt.

I know there is no answer to this question. But I wonder if Jackie Giacalone knows the details of the Hoffa murder.
Re: DETROIT MOBSTER “JOE HOOKS” DIES PEACEFULLY & FREE AT 87
Well, if you go by Nove Tocco and Paul Corrado's car bug, the Giacalones were grooming Jackie to be boss since the 80s. It probably came up. And its not unheard of for the Giacalones to discuss murder. They seem to have gotten more cautious in the 80s-90s based on almost no tape recordings of the Giacalones in the Gamtax trials, but the illegal bug in Home Juice Company in the 60s picked up Anthony describing driving with a dead body in the trunk in the 40s and how he thought he was about to get pulled over and the guy with him was ready to shoot the cop.
Re: DETROIT MOBSTER “JOE HOOKS” DIES PEACEFULLY & FREE AT 87
Nope. I don't believe Billy or Tony knew the exact details either. Jack Tocco would be the only guy I could think of of this last generation who may have known.

Re: DETROIT MOBSTER “JOE HOOKS” DIES PEACEFULLY & FREE AT 87
Huh? Why would Jack Tocco know details if Anthony Giacalone didn't? That makes no sense. I think all three of them knew what happened, but if anyone knew, Tony Jack did. Jack Tocco might have just been told that it was done. Jack's not boss for another four years.
Re: DETROIT MOBSTER “JOE HOOKS” DIES PEACEFULLY & FREE AT 87
You think Joey Lombardo may know? He was the Outfit's liaison with the Teamsters. I guess it could have just been a situation of the Outfit bosses telling him that Hoffa "was gone" and that was that, as opposed to revealing any specific details.
Re: DETROIT MOBSTER “JOE HOOKS” DIES PEACEFULLY & FREE AT 87
Weren't the Giacalones involved in the hit? Or are you saying that the order came most likely from the Commission, or maybe some families, but most likely Commission approved. They order passed down a chain of command, and the actual killers only know about the details of the hit.
