Re: Anthony Luongo
According to Casso Bobby Amuso was involved in the Frank DeCicco murder. He was with Casso and Vic during the test run, the placing of the bomb and the bombing itself. The physical perpetrator was Herbert Pate - - a Genovese associate and acquaintance of Bobby.
Re: Anthony Luongo

Never got indicted during that time frame as far as I know. He died in 2004.

theres practically zero info on luongo other than the fact that he existed, he was from the bronx, and he was killed. the only people ive heard ever talk about him were tommy riccardi on the mob rampage documentary. Pizzaboy on these boards mentioned him as well and even though it wasnt much, he knew a little bit more info about him versus anywhere else ive read. cant remember if he said he was capo of the crew mike salerno had, or if it was the other way around. matter fact there isnt much on Salerno either. as powerful as that bronx faction was there is not a lot of info on the people

See, this is what has never made any sense really, the part, " Corallo couldnt do anything....."Snakes wrote: ↑Sun Mar 24, 2019 1:14 pm I believe he was rumored to be in the running for boss but never actually took over. Amuso and Casso saw him as a threat to their own ambitions and possibly convinced Corallo that he had to go. Whether they did or didn't, there wasn't much that Corallo could do about it as he was about to go away for life.
I also seem to remember something about Amuso being Corallo's top choice all along but I'm not entirely sure. Maybe B, Pogo, CC, or others can weigh in on that.
So, Persico can vote on the murder of a boss in jail, fight wars, appoint relatives to key positions....
Rastelli, weak as he was took over the family FROM PRISON, same with Mancuso, who a lot of mob watchers dont really respect either.
Amuso, whom many say had limited support from only Brooklyn, managed to shelve Casso, who was ON THE STREET at the time.......
The whole explanation has never made ANY SENSE really.......
From what I understand, Corallo even orchestrated his rise at least partly from prison...... It seems situational, not an established protocol, as far as a boss abdicating his position upon a long imprisonment.....
I dunno....

I has a similar discourse with @Hairy about Peter Gotti, like why is he a figurehead, and Amuso or say Persico remain in command?
Re: Anthony Luongo
All speculation, but its entirely possible Corallo wanted Casso/Amuso as the admin, and OK'd Luongo being hit to pre-emptively stop the Bronx faction from challenging that after he went away. The idea of powerbases exists in reality, but it may not be all that a guy might take into consideration. Maybe he was feeling closer to Funari than Tom Mix by the end, who knows.
And when Casso rats, he makes dramatizes it by saying no we killed him to get the top spot - not we got it and then we got the OK to take down a potential threat.
And/or, maybe Ducks thought that having Bronx guys not steer the ship this time around would save them from the heat that was put on him and Tom Mix.
Who knows

i think the school of thought is that Furnari convinced Corallo that Amuso and Casso were the guys... while at the exact same time, Santoro was trying to play puppet master and put Luongo in there. So, to stop Santoro, Corallo and Furnari ordered the hit on LuongoInCamelot wrote: ↑Mon Nov 16, 2020 11:22 am All speculation, but its entirely possible Corallo wanted Casso/Amuso as the admin, and OK'd Luongo being hit to pre-emptively stop the Bronx faction from challenging that after he went away. D’Arco said in his book, very briefly, “Tom Mix was trying to take over the family from Prison”
maybe Corallo and Santoro werent as unified as we were lead to believe? maybe there was tension there toward the end of their runs? what I dont get is that why were the commission case bosses the LAST bosses to relinquish full control after sentencing? ever since then every time we see a boss get taken down, he stays official and appoints an acting. its weird that Corallo and the Lucchese admin didnt do that?
after reading more and thinking about it, I believe this ties directly into them eventually killing DiLapi (Santoro’s nephew), Salerno, and forcing Macaluso into retirement. As much as they were painted as blood thirsty lunatics, it IS the mob...people are treacherous. Even if they are older, more traditional, more honorable or however the old guard Uptown guys are to be painted...they are still criminals. The Bronx faction could have very well been a legit threat to Amuso and could have very well been plotting to kill him, his brother, Casso, etc.
Re: Anthony Luongo
Yeah what you said seems to make some sense. At least enough to take into consideration (I know folks might misinterpret what you said to be 'the Bronx faction deserved it'). But I think what doesn't get re-considered enough is how there's this whole Bronx vs Brooklyn thing in this story, but its hard to refute that Corallo had his own ideas independent of the uptown group. You could say well he lost his marbles. Maybe. Or he just had different ideas. He certainly seems to have lived for 15 more years in prison without that Uncle Junior rep. Re: Anthony Luongo
Tony ducks didnt go to prison till he was sentenced in 1987 actually all 3. Tom mix and Christy tic. They were found guilty and still allowed bail till they got sentenced amonth later. I read some article where lawyers were surprised neither one of them jumped bail. So ducks and Christy tic had already step down for amuso who became boss around november 1986

i think out of all of the five families and their sagas, the luccheses have always been the most interesting to me. always seemed like they were very powerful, but in a low key way. never very big members wise, but had some big players in every industry. arguably at one point the smallest, but highest quality of members
