The G deserves acquittals for getting into bed with the likes of Lovaglio. Dumped by the State(!) as a cooperating witness, gets 8 years for ruining the life of a retired cop, and jumps into the arms of the feds. Guaranteed he will be filing motions to lessen his state sentence soon.

Ok guys, I've read this and the remarks on the other post and I'm going to give you my 2 cents on this acquittal. And, this applies to the other aquittals we've seen in the last couple of years.

First, at least in this case, no murders. I believe the old saying still applies, that as long as it's gambling, booze, loans, etc., nobody gives a shit. Frankly I think the jury looked at the charges and said "hey, it doesn't affect me so who cares."

Second, I think our modern society has taken on an attitude about informants. They pretty much appear more reprehensible than the defendants. When presented with Lovaglio's past, well, enough said. Then there was Sabella and his rantings on social media. Enough said on that too.

Lastly, and this is the most important. There is definitely an anti-government bias out there (ala Trump). I think when people like Cammarano and Zancocchio are in front of a jury, the jury looks at them and thinks, hey, they look like us. The government is just picking on them for a meaningless crime. I work with the public everyday, and I'll say the vast majority hate the government. So, you give me a jury of my peers, indict me on a crime that involves someone making a conscious choice to gamble with me or take out a loan with me, well...give me that jury.

Sorry if anyone disagrees but I told you "a couple three things."

agreed. great post. zancocchio being Pete Rose's bookie and a community man on staten island may have helped. only half joking. i think the guy was somewhat revered and a "people person"

Zancocchio was a real community figure, wouldn't be surprised if one of the jurors had been to his restaurant.

I gotta admit I was routing for Zancocchio. I like the guy. Its really tough to find someone who doesn't like him in OC or just the community. I am glad he got off.

you know...i was reading ed leibers blog earlier and there was an article about hector pagan on there. and it made me realize, after remembering how the government let the trigger man of a murder (and the sole reason why the robbery was botched and turned into murder in the first place) skate and rat on his accomplices, putting them away for damn near life...im glad they take it on the chin with cases like this and glad that a family man like cammaranno and a local business man and jovial guy like zancocchio didnt fall victim to their underhanded tactics. zancocchio was taking bets and demanding tax and respect from a drug dealing, woman abusing lowlife ..so what. the feds really blew their load early with this one and totally fumbled lovaglio

Joe Cammaranos a great father and has raised some great kids. His oldest son is a jockey in university. He’s done really well for his family and has been really good with Grimaldi Bakery and such. John Zancocchio is also a great person and community figure, his restaurants are amazing and he’s suffered enough punishment having to put up with Lana Graziano. Pretty sure that when he was arrested in the 1990s, Lana Graziano was quoted by police as being visibly abusive towards Zancocchio.

Hahaha, good point. Porky already did his time by being married to Lana all those years.

Denino's are originally from Brooklyn and migrated to SI(like most Brooklyn Italians) where they opened the Famous Denino Pizza Biz. Porky's mom was a Denino. I am not sure if Porky was born in Brooklyn or not. But he has been in SI since at least his late 20s. Which is where he met the Graziano's etc.

This goes without saying, but it's probably not such a hot idea for the feds to use as their star witness a guy whose nickname is literally "bullshit".
My problem is I hate everybody.
