According to Michael D'Urso, during his time on the street Genovese members would try not to use names when talking about other members especially high ranking ones and that guys would refer to Ernie Muscarella as the bear (I had never heard that before) He also stated that Muscarella officially took over from Barney as captain in the mid 90s and that Barney put all his guys except from Thomas Cafaro with Muscarella.

According to "street" talk on another forum Nicchia is made and took over some of Danny Pagano's responsibilities in New Jersey when he went to prison.

I also remember reading an article he once was one of John Buster Arditos associates, but cant recall it.

Interesting, because the unsubstantiated rumour is that Muscarella "hates" Michael Mancuso, who Palazzolo was acting boss for and support of.
