But I still believe Aiuppa outranked Cerone. But will definitely keep in mind that Cerone, possibly had more power than Aiuppa.
I just presented another strong piece of evidence from an F.B.I Agent who had this told to him from Ralph Pierce. If you compare Cerone to other #2's in the past like Ferraro or Bucceri or Nicoletti, Cerone was far different and more powerful. Something to consider, that's all.
It is something to consider. I see your point and some evidence. But I , in my mind need more proof. We already knew Cerone was the former operations boss, so naturally we already knew that he carried alot of weight. I believe he came from the same crew or territory as Accardo, who at the time was the top boss. Now does that translate into Cerone having more power and authority than Aiuppa?? I don't know. Aiuppa was hand-picked by Ricca and Accardo, so Aiuppa has a connection in that with Accardo. We just don't know yet if Cerone could of had the boss job again. Heard it mentioned, but never seen evidence. When Cerone became Underboss was Aiuppa and Nicoletti official or acting? Also was the Ruling Panel still in charge?? When they wanted Cerone to take a more active part in the Outfit, and he didn't want to be out front, if that's really the case, how do we know how Accardo handled this without stripping Aiuppa's authority. I think he just gave Aiuppa a strong Underboss with lots of experience, that helped and advised Aiuppa. Also everyone that listened to Chicago news in the middle to late seventies heard of Jackie Cerone, so much for being behind the scenes.
That' just it. Cerone never had the Boss job when he came out. He didn't WANT the boss job again. Auippa was never stripped of anything. What Ralph Pierce and Roemer are saying is that Cerone was INDEED more behind the scenes as an Advisor, at least at the beginning, then it appeared he got more and more dragged into daily things and ended up going to Jail with Auippa on the Strawman Case. You should read read the full statement made by Roemer in his book once again or on that other thread where I typed it. It is very clear.
You keep thinking that Auippa was demoted somehow. Auippa NEVER CHANGED, Romer said Cerone was simply above him along with Accardo in the same way that Accardo and Ricca were above Giancana or you could look at it if it is more easier to accept as an eventual triumvirate and Cerone simply replace Alex. Something to consider either way.
