Glad you caught that thread, I saw it as well. Hearing that guy describe the conditions in there was one of the things that made me question why Marcello is still there. It's intended for immediate threats or guys who are only there for a short time.
So where would Marcello be right now if he's not there? What are your guesses?

That place closed down like 5 years ago and the place that took its place also closed down. There was also a John and Tony’s in West Chicago that also closed down. Not sure of any other places they are involved in. I do believe Matassa is well off and that sceme he was involved in was just him stealing because he could.

Even Vinnie Basciano was moved out of ADMAX, and I'd put him as a more dangerous individual than Marcello.

Likely true.

Reading about the prisoner conditions at ADMAX is wild. From what i can tell, it's also not supposed to be a super long term solution, and he's been there a long ass time. There has to be more to this story than we know (He plotted to murder a judge, plotted to murder another inmate, explicitly ordered Zizzos death from prison??). Although if something that explicit went down, you would think it would have been publicized. This feels like insider baseball shit, like he or his lawyers really pissed off someone important behind the scenes.
I'm working through court filings, but I know in 2012, he was ordered by Zagel to be returned to his "preferred institution." The federal government has discretion to put him wherever they want but they try to place them somewhere relatively close to family and counsel, I think 500 miles or less Chicago. Atwater wasn't even within the parameters, so I'm unsure why he is in Admax or why he is there. If I find anything, I'll share here.

Paulie is about 55 years old now and its nice to see that he doesn't let age slow him down or act like so many do once they get to the same age. There are so many people once they are in their 50's that feel that going out is against the rules for them anymore. Which I find quite disappointing to carry that attitude in life. Good for him!

I know this has been discussed before, but does anyone have additional information/thoughts on why Jimmy Marcello is locked up in supermax? It always seemed like overkill for an LCN guy to be housed with the Unabomber and El Chapo, but I'm sure there is more to the story than I know.

The two things I recall reading were that he was either trying to run the outfit or criminal rackets from prison, or that it was basically a middle finger from the feds due to his multiple appeal attempts. Dude is 81 years old, and spends 23 hours a day in a tiny cell with a 4 inch window.

That Greg Vayna guy in the cigar video I linked to is listed as the owner. Does Matassa's son also own a share, or is he himself Matassa's son but uses a different last name for some reason, or what?
I think he sold it to the current guy. There has been two different owners of Taverna. The current bought it a couple of years ago
Here is where I got that - some of the older posts here on GangsterBB are somewhat informative. Did Pudgy's son really go to West Point? http://gangsterbb.net/threads/ubbthread ... ber=785662
Yes he sold it. No idea about the West Point connection but will try to find out
