While I don’t know if it’s true when you think about it by the time they realized he was missing he would have been hundreds of miles away on a gateway transportation truck while he’s been searched for in Detroit. Not saying it’s most plausible but I could kinda see how that could make sense other than the fact your driving across the country with bones of a very famous person

Tbh I always thought that Genovese guys made him disappear since he was close to Tony Pro.

Regardless of who actually pulled the trigger, it would’ve been a joint Genovese/Detroit operation (Chicago was probably involved at least at the level of assenting to it). Even if Genovese guys killed him, it would make a lot more sense to use the local Outfit to dispose of the body than driving it to NJ. Not that it’s impossible for the latter scenario to have happened, but Occam’s razor leads me to assume that they would’ve simply disposed of him locally (and Detroit had a thousand ways to do so discretely), unless and until something convincing to the contrary surfaces.

I see, do you think any of the guys that have flipped through the years that are from that time that are still alive have any info on that? franzese just says he was thrown in the ocean

I don’t really find it plausible that Franzese would actually know. Given the families that were most likely involved (Detroit, Genovese, Chicago), I don’t think that there’s anyone among the currently alive rats who would be in any position to know. Just my opinion, of course, but I assume that even within those families that may have been involved this was a high-level hit on a very high-profile public figure and thus any details probably stayed within a small circle on a need-to-know basis.
