Salerno not fit to be boss

Post by JeremyTheJew »

There is YouTube short thst I’m trying to find the actual show to see why they said Salerno is not typical boss n it rumored that he shouldn’t of been picked to be boss

Does anyone know a who said that
Sounded like detective or someone in the know from le pov

And also
Is that true
Why wouldn’t he be good boss
He was capo of important crew before being boss

It sounds like it was from Mafia’s Greatest Hits, that was a good documentary series
When it mentioned Pritchard, I think that may have been from Agent Pritchard who worked on the Genovese squad
The FBI found out the truth from Fish Cafaro if I remember correctly
It’s not true, could be just the agent saying something to cover up them being fooled by Chin

Salerno was an admin member before becoming the underboss/acting boss. There's also federal information he might have been elected as the family boss for a couple of months after Tieri stepped down but then had a stroke.

So wht made a detective think that he wasn’t fit for boss n rumors there were better candidates

To me Salerno seemed tough as nails
took
His hundred years n yelled at the judge

But I very surprised to hear that he was looked at unfit

The info comes from Catena/Tieri/Lombardo/Gigante's FBI files. Between October 1980 and April 1981, there were conflicting reports on who was the boss.

After Tieri stepped down in October, either Salerno became boss until January, or there was a ruling panel consisting of Salerno, Gigante, and semi-retired Phil Lombardo. By April 1981, the FBI IDd Lombardo as the boss, Salerno as the underboss, Gigante as the acting boss/consigliere, and Catena as an adviser. By late 1981, Lombardo had stepped down, Gigante was the boss, Fat Tony was the acting boss & underboss, Santora - the acting underboss, and Manna - the consigliere.

Some members of law enforcement thought Fat Tony was a dumb fuck since that's how he acted around them. Also, by the 1980s, he was a very ill man with diabetes, heart issues, prostate cancer.

Salerno had a certain gruffness about him, the real life version of the cigar-chomping, fedora-wearing mob boss caricature, but he was no dummy. He effectively ran much of the family for years.

"Go fuck yourself." - Fat Tony Salerno

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

The guy literally is on tape saying he made all the guys. He inducted the guy whose boss today. Whatever his position was from 1974 till he got locked up in 1986 he inducted all the genomes guys. Barone said he did and cafaro. They played the rotation of guys since Vito died. Fat Tony was always somewhere at the top

Exactly

To me Salerno is the epitome of mob boss

That’s why I’m very surprised to hear le claim hes unfit for the job
He’s almost to fit for the job

How and when were the pics of Salerno n corrallo in prison taken?
I thought they tried to keep bosses sepersted but maybe this was taken during trial days???

Also I remember JIGGS claiming that Tony ducks corallo would NEVER be caught dead going to fat Tony’s club.
Not that he really would know

Side note. Tony ducks is the coolest nick name of any mobster. Think about it. Tony ducks. I believe both big Paul and fat Tony were recorded calling him that. Also Tony ducks was recorded at fat Tony's Palma boy social club. That's we're they had the discussion about Phil rustelli could be the boss but has not seat or say in commission business. I pretty sure Tony ducks was a regular there
