Read some interesting articles today about a big Gambino bust in 2010 involving a crew under Daniel Marino. Never heard about this case and never here anyone else talk about it. Was a pretty big case. It’s interesting to me that the leader of the crew was so young. You don’t here about mafia busts very often with made guys under 35. Does anyone know what his story is? Is he a player in the Gambinos currently?

Orefice was originally a Lucchese associate. He was involved in drug trafficking and committed a string of robberies in the 90s for Lucchese members including one robbery where one of Orefice's co-conspirators shot a truck driver in the chest and left him for dead (the truck driver lived) In around 1998 he was sentenced to 87 months and he was in federal prison with Daniel Marino in around 1999 and 2000. He cozied up to Marino and they became good friends. Orefice was out of prison by 2005 and Marino asked the Luccheses to release him to the Gambinos which they of course did. Orefice became a trusted enforcer for Marino and was inducted into the Gambino family in late 2008.

He was described by the feds as the driving force behind the prostitution ring Marino's crew were running and a lot of the girls they were using were very young including one girl who was 15. Orefice, Michael Scarpaci and most the other crew members were banging her too. Dominick DiFiore (originally a Bonanno associate) who became Orefice's most trusted lieutenant was proposed for membership and Michael Scarpaci another Orefice associate was also on his way to becoming a made member but they were all busted before this happened.

Yeah they weren't aware that the girl's real age was 15 but still they are real scumbags. I read on here (possibly from bronx?) that Orefice was shelved and chased. If that's the case then there's no way they would've straightened out DiFiore or Scarpaci.

Sounds like the sopranos episode in season 1 when Brendan recruited some of his African American buddies and the gun fell and went off and hit the driver in the chest and killed him

I remember this indictment. Orefice was listed as a solider in 2010. That's the govt saying that for what it's worth.

off topic: best way to succeed as a mobster. find strong captain or soldier to protect you and not abuse or take advantage of you. deal tons of drugs till you have a million or 2 stashed. put that money on the street and sit back and collect 2 1/2 pts which is good profit but wont break anyone. get a legit business. and then pray. lol Thats the only way to make it worth it
