I was reading a 1954 NYTimes article on the murder of Vincent (Jimmy) Macri, who was shot to death in the Bronx. The article said Macri was a close associate of Anastasia’s and that in 1949, Macri was believed to have killed Garment Union official William Lurye.
Macri’s surrender in that case was arranged by Anastasia. Macri was acquitted allegedly due to Anastasia and Tony Bender arranging perjured testimony at the trial. The interesting part was the article discussed how at the 1951 acquittal party in Newark, there was an “assassination attempt” on Anastasia, and that “Anastasia feared for weeks to leave his home at Fort Lee, NJ unless accompanied by one of the Macri brothers.”
Could be ive read about this before and forgot but any other info available on the attempted hit on Anastasia in 1951? any suspects or idea of who ordered it?

Thanks for that info TSNYC. Not sure what the background is around the assassination attempt but it matches up with what was going on in the above footage.
