Joey Flowers Tangorra
I know that he briefly led the Lucchese crew to Bensonhurst and as far as I understand, he led the remnants after Zappola and Conte. I read that after his arrest, he started having problems with his head and even smeared himself with his own feces. Is there any recent information about him, maybe Pennisi knew something about him? It seems that he hardly participates in family affairs, especially after such oddities

He’s on the shelf because of his issues in prison
Re: Joey Flowers Tangorra
Did he really have mental problems or was he imitating a patient?

He really did have mental problems and this I would assume led to a lot of Lucchese members becoming worried that he would cooperate but he didn’t and was eventually released in 2014, according to the BOP Inmate locator.John Pennisi said that when Michael DeSantis became the Acting Boss, he revisited everyone who was on the shelf which was a move that everyone respected.I would assume that even if DeSantis did ask Tangorra if he wanted back in, he would have said no most likely

He was having mental issues even before he got to prison. After his third major indictment (he was hit with 3 inside of 2 years) he was found wandering the streets babbling, waving his indictment in the air and reading out from it. He must have had a mentall break getting his with all those indict, mets in such a short time.

Calandra has spoken about this guy a few times... basically said the guy was an asshole. I know the Lucchese ranks were pretty thin, relatively, in the early/mid 90s - but this guy was added to their construction panel. He must have had some juice at one point in time.
Re: Joey Flowers Tangorra
Why did Calandra think Tangorra was an asshole? I was trying to find something about Joey and it seemed to me that he was a good skipper. If not for the mental problems...newera_212 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 9:59 am Calandra has spoken about this guy a few times... basically said the guy was an asshole. He has an arbitrary list of who the good and bad guys were in the neighborhood that he saw, encountered, etc. - a lot of the good guys were nice to everyone, helped out people, did not walk around like a big shot, were not known to be openly treacherous, etc. Tangorra apparently didn't fall into this category
