DeCavalcante Family Crew Succession
Here is a succession list for the DeCavalcante family crews. Some this is based purelly on deductive reasoning since there is not as much available info on them as there is on the NY families (unfortunately). Special thanks to JD, B. and Felice for discovering some of this info.
As always any additions or corrections welcome.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It wasn’t until 1961 that the family introduced the rank of Capo. The Capos by 1964 were Joseph “Joe Tiger” Sfera, Frank “Casino” Cocchiaro, Daniel “Danny” Noto and Michael “Mickey Poole” Puglia. So most likely these were the first Capos promoted in 1961. The family seemed to promote Capos in batches. By the mid/late 60s some new crews were created and Louis LaRasso, Joseph Lolardo, Paul Farina and Jake Colletti were promoted to Capo. Another large batch of Capos were promoted in 1991 among them Louis LaRasso (again), Charlie Majuri, Joseph Ferrara and Joseph Caruano.
Riggi Crew: Crew created in 1961.
Giovanni "John the Eagle/Uncle John" Riggi (1961-1978) Became UnderBoss.
-Riggi also served as Acting Boss from 1974-1978.
Emanuel “Manny” Riggi (1982-1990) Demoted.
-Not sure who took over this Crew.
Cocchiaro-Abramo Crew: Crew created in 1961.
Frank “Casino/Big Frank” Cocchiaro (1961-1985) Died.
-In 1976 this Crew was split between Cocchiaro and Vincent “Jimmy the Gent” Rotondo.
John “Johnny Boy” D’Amato (1985-1990) Became UnderBoss.
Philip Abramo (1990-1995) Imprisoned.
Virgil Alessi (1995-1998) Died.
Philip Abramo (1998-April 2001) Imprisoned in 2000/Demoted.
Rotondo Crew: Broke off from the Cocchiaro Crew.
Vincent “Jimmy the Gent” Rotondo (1976-1988) Killed.
Anthony Rotondo (1988-April 2001) Imprisoned in 1999/Demoted.
-In 1989 Vincent “Vinny Ocean” Palermo took over a part of this Crew.
-Most of this crew was imprisoned in 1999. The left overs were probably merged with another crew.
Palermo Crew: Broke off from the Rotondo Crew in 1989.
Vincent “Vinny Ocean” Palermo (1989-1997) Became Acting Boss.
-This Crew was merged with the Schiro-Giacobbe Crew in 1997.
Giacobbe-Farone Crew: Broke off from the Cocchiaro Crew.
Anthony Carubia (1970s-19??)
-It is possible that Carubia was the Capo before Cocchiaro.
Joseph Giacobbe Sr. (19??-1987) Stepped Down/Died in 1988.
Rudolph "Uncle Rudy" Farone (1987-1998) Died.
-In 1990/1 most of this crew was dispersed among different Crews.
-Joseph “Uncle Joe” Giacobbe (1998-1999) Imprisoned.
-Frank D'Amato (Early 2001-April 2001) Promoted to Acting Consigliere.
-Not sure who took over this crew. Most of it was imprisoned in 1999. The left overs were likely merged with another crew.
Schiro Crew: Possibly broke off from the Giacobbe Crew.
Lawrence “Larry/Shorty” Schiro (Mid 1980s-Late 1990s) Retired/Died?
-Joseph “Uncle Joe” Giacobbe (1997-1999) Imprisoned.
-Not sure what became of this Crew?
Noto Crew: Crew created in 1961.
Daniel “Danny” Noto (1961-Mid/Late 1960s)
-Not sure who took over this Crew. It could have been Louis LaRasso, Paul Farina, Joseph Lolardo or Jake Colletti (or some combination) as all had been promoted to Capo during the mid/late 1960s.
LaRasso Crew:
Louis “Fat Lou” LaRasso (Mid/Late 1960s-1970s) Demoted.
Robert "Bobby Basile" Occhipinti (1970s-Late 1970s/Early 1980s) Stepped Down.
Giaciano "Jake" Amari (Late 1970s/Early 1980s-1991) Became UnderBoss.
Louis “Fat Lou” LaRasso (1991) Killed.
Giuseppe "Pino" Schifillitti (1991-April 2001) Imprisoned in 2000/Demoted.
-Not sure who took over this Crew. Possibly Salvatore “Sal the Barber” Timpani.
Frank “Shipe” Nigro could have been the Capo for a time before he was promoted to Consigliere.
Farina-Caruano Crew:
Joseph “Joe Tiger” Sferra (1961-1965) Demoted.
Paulo “Paul” Farina (1965-1991) Stepped Down.
Joseph “Joe C” Caruano (1991-2000) Died.
Salvatore “Sal the Barber” Timpani (2000?-20??) Stepped Down.
Joseph Collina (20??-Present)
Colletti Crew:
Giacomo “Jake” Colletti (Mid/Late 1960s-19??) Stepped Down.
-Someone was a Capo in between them. Not sure who.
Joseph Colletti (19??-1991)
Joseph “JoJo” Ferrara (1991-2007) Died.
-Someone else could ran the Crew between them since I don’t think Stango was on the street when Ferrara died.
Charles “Charlie the Hat/Beeps” Stango (2007?-Present) Imprisoned.
Majuri Crew: Might have taken over part of the Riggi Crew or Colletti Crew..
Charles "Fat Charlie/Big Ears" Majuri (1991-April 2001) Imprisoned in 2000/Demoted.
-Majuri also served as one of the Acting Bosses from 1997-2000.
-Not sure who took over this. It is very likely that Majuri was promoted back to Capo after he got out of prison but I don’t know if he was given back his old crew, a different crew or a new crew entirely.
Connecticut Crew: Crew created in 1961.
Michael “Mickey Poole” Puglia (1961-1970s)
-This Crew looks to have been disbanded by the late 70s/early 80s.
Polizzi Crew: Polizzi was promoted to Capo sometime after being released from prison in 1995. It doesn’t appear that he had much of a Crew.
Francesco “Frank” Polizzi (Mid 1990s-April 2001) Demoted.
-Frank “Frankie the Beast” Scarabino (2000-2001) Imprisoned/Flipped.
-Scarabino was not made (he was proposed) but he ran Polizzi’s operations as Polizzi’s health was declining and he was under indictment.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.
Re: DeCavalcante Family Crew Succession
LoLordo lived around Queens/LI, so he could have been a captain of one of the NY crews.
Also, I don't think it's true that there were zero captains before 1961, only that they didn't have any left when DeCavalcante took over. Some NJ Genovese members are on tape discussing Francesco DeCavalcante, who they were close to, and they specifically say he was a captain before he died.

Interesting. So Lolardo could possibly have been a Capo before Curabia or Giacobbe.
Also interesting about the family possibly having Capos during the earlier days. Thanks.

Re: DeCavalcante Family Crew Succession
Also do you have anything on a Vincent Ingranio as a Capo (probably during the 70s period). I believe I read that on the forums long ago but haven't been able to find anything on him. Don't know if it was bullshit.

Re: DeCavalcante Family Crew Succession
I’m not so sure Tony Carubia was with the DeCavalcante. I wanna say he was around Gambino or Genovese. Probably Gambino. Is there prove positive he was with NJ?..... I may be able to check this if it’s open for debate. Also, Tony Vanella, a Gambino, I feel like they were close, both from the Astoria areaPogo The Clown wrote: ↑Wed Jun 03, 2015 6:14 pm Interesting. Thanks. Either he doesn't exist or was some associate that got inflated and wound up on a list.

Re: DeCavalcante Family Crew Succession
He was with the Farina-Caruano Crew. So yeah he most likely took that crew over. Good catch.
