#2 in NE

Post by JakeTheSnake630 »

Outside of Ray Patriarca Sr, who was the 2nd most powerful guy in NE Organized Crime history? Gerry A? Ouimette? Whitey? Whitey obv had an unfair advantage cuz he had the feds, Anguilo had the most money, but Ouimette might have had the most connections nation wide as a result of all the time he did. What other names should be included in the running for #2? Would love to hear some thoughts.

Whiney was way over hyped by media
Was he a dangerous guy definitely
Did he make a ton of money . YES
Was he feared by the Italians not even a little
If he got out of line with theM he wud b buried under the expressway with his victims . I grew up in eastie never even heard of white till early 90’s wen no one else was around

He was def a killer, A EARNER and ran his area . But #2 all time in New England no way . Not even top 5

Larry Baione could be another possibility being an enforcer for Raymond and the Angiulo Brothers. I think that he was at the Lancaster street garage talking to Bulger and Flemmi.
Manocchio could be another possibility being an underboss to Salemme and then running the Patriarca crime family for 15 years without many problems despite knowing Deluca or Flemmi

Zannino came to mind, he’s prob my favorite NE guy but thought of him as more of a career soldier kind of guy. I know he worked up the ladder to capo and consig but he was a blue collar kind of gangster. Louie is up there too and I think he even had some European connections as well. He was on the run for a long time and def built a network. What about Ouimette? I know it’s going back a long time but what about King Solomon? Or even Joe Lombardo? Or some more modern names like Spucky or Vinny F?Not sure where they would rank. Just tossing some names out.

thanks for your message and the Ouimette Brothers Gerard and John were definitely involved in the bonded vault heist which was ordered by Raymond to punish his own men for not sending enough tribute.

Henry Tameleo was well respected by the rank and file according Vinnie Teresa's book.

Baby Shacks...one of the most successful modern day mob bosses...with connections all over the country.

How about Matthew Guglielmetti who was in attendance at the Medford Induction ceremony and this article mentioned that Flemmi thought that he was the main contact to Raymond Patriarca Junior.

Another one has to be Peter Limone who did time because of Barboza's testimony before becoming the boss after Manocchio.

I personally think if Howie was able to stay out of the can, he would have been 5x bigger than he was. He was respected by all, and had serious connections. He was a gangster's gangster, never heard any bad words about the man.

Good point that towing company the son has is one of the biggest in the area, and god knows what else they have a piece of. I think the next 3 generations of Anguilo's will have financially comfortable lives. A lot of guys, even big earners left their family's broke.
