Is Joey Merlino still the boss of Philly?

Is Joey Merlino still the boss of Philly?
He's living in Florida and he's a high profile, like couple months ago they even blamed him for rigging the election. I think he's the front boss, who's taking all the heat from the real boss, which I think is Steve Mazzone. It might sound stupid, I know but why do they need a boss who's too high profile and talking to TMZ?

Still the boss. What's the point of having a front boss who's nowhere near Philadelphia? How could he front anything from Florida

I would guess he’s still the boss, just only gets involved when he’s really needed.

He's the boss. His street/front boss is in Philly.
And what heat is he taking away from Mazzone exactly? Mazzone was just indicted and that was after all the talk of him taking a step back. Last official chart we have it's probably changed since the indictments or even before then.
Boss: Merlino
Street Boss: Mikey Lance
Underboss: Mazzone
Consigliere: JL aka Ligambi or Licata

I thought he could take the attention from Philly to Florida but when I think again, I relaized it was a stupid question.chin_gigante wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 3:05 am Still the boss. What's the point of having a front boss who's nowhere near Philadelphia? How could he front anything from Florida

Joey and his close childhood, lifelong boys shot and fought for for control of that family. Joey lost his closest and best friend (Mikey Chang) to gain control of that family. I don’t see Joey ever relinquishing control of that family until death. Even if he went away on a Life bid I have no doubt in my mind he would still run that family like he did via Uncle Joe during his 14 year bid. Joey is never ever giving up control of that family, he has his inner circle that will be absolutely loyal to him no matter what and never rat (Mazzone, Angelina, Borgesi) .

Also, Joey’s inner circle stood up to multiple murder charges in the late 1990s/early 2000s when they were just kids in their mid 30s.
Nothing phases Joey and his tight inner circle, Chris Christie even tried seeking the death penalty on Joey in Jersey for the Joe Sodano hit and Joey didn’t seem to be phased one single bit and stood up.
Again, nothing would surprise me but I just can’t see anyone in Joey’s childhood inner circle ever being disloyal to him or going bad (flipping) .
Just my two cents

It seems Merlin tells everyone but his inner circle that life as a criminal is the over , mafia dead etc., but IMO that’s just him being very slippery

What about Dom? He's a bit younger than Joey to be childhood friends. He has a big mouth too and he doesn't seem very wise,do you think he'll stay loyal to Joey if he gets over 15-20 years?NJShore4Life wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 7:59 am Joey and his close childhood, lifelong boys shot and fought for for control of that family. Check my previous posts I’ve made about my thoughts on Dom, I don’t feel like repeating yet again.
