Andrew Campos Factoid of the Day and New Info
Interesting factoid of the day: Andrew Campos who is a reputed member of the Gambino Family and has a pending racketeering case that is stalled right now because of Covid and has been on strict home confinement conditions since he was released on bail back in December is seeking a lessening of those restrictions to nighttime curfew. I'll have more on that later.
But back in 2004 when he was indicted on another case, the government made up an alias for him, calling him "Andrew Campo" because the "s" in his last name didn't quite fit with the Italian organized crime image (aka his name didn't end in a vowel) and even made up a story about his background being investigated by Gambino members before Campos was able to become a "made" member which was picked up by all the media outlets.
His lawyers fought that and while the judge at the time didn't remove it from the indictment, he did make sure it wouldn't be said in front of the jury if it had gone to trial and if the government proved it existed. That case didn't go to trial. However, it's an extremely convoluted case where the govt ended up dismissing all but two of the counts and all which they fought extremely hard to keep on the indictment in pretrial hearings. And there are a lot of interesting parallels in regards to the govt's tactics then and the tactics being used now. More on that later also.
And just FYI, in current indictment, there is no "Andrew Campo" alias so it probably never existed.

Because YOU draw attention away from the points of focus by saying biased, silly, agenda driven statements.mafiastudent wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 6:19 pmWhy do you guys pick the most irrelevant things to comment on?

When I get to the comparisons and parallels, I'll lay it all out. I don't make stuff up. I'm not the government. lolol. If I showed you the entire docket of that 2004 case and everything that occurred, you'd see for yourself. Lots of the documents aren't available. Id probably have to get them in NY.
However, in the current case, explain to me why it is that the govt filed a motion to have the case placed with a different judge and filed it ex parte and sealed and the defense had to file a motion to unseal which didn't happen (at least its not on public docket). Govt did this with a number of filings in this case as well as that 2004 case. But the judge in his ruling regarding that issue did say that he's not going anywhere.
And let's not forget the government trying to "get" Campos on that bogus bail violation because that's not shady at all.

I said reputed. The government uses alleged in their indictments. But seriously. That's what you're focusing on? Alleged? Reputed? So what if he's a member of a named Family? Not a crime to be part of some secret club. It's up to the govt to prove that he committed any alleged crimes and they should do so in a fair, open, truthful, ethical and non shady way.
And my "agenda" is to show all the facts not just one side. So, if that's a bad thing then I guess I deserve a slap on the wrist. Or a paddling like back when I was in Catholic grade school...lolol. Never had the pleasure of getting whacked with the rosary beads. Before my time.

I, AGREE, the Crea trial was a farce and he and Madonna were wrongly convicted (note I state convicted not guilty. And note the difference). Yet you alienate people by statements which indicate pre-conclusion, agenda, or emotively driven.
Campos is an alleged member? Campos IS a member and by crying wolf here you lose your credibility when the real wolf appears.
Let the facts speak for you. They will speak louder than you can.
You’re only detracting from them with your bias.

This isn't about Crea. Why keep bringing him into conversation. I'm not crying wolf. His crimes are alleged. And if the govt can use alleged in their indictment and mass media uses alleged in their stories why is it not okay for me to do so? He hasn't been convicted of anything in this case. And last time I checked it's innocent until proven guilty for the crimes being alleged in this particular indictment.SonnyBlackstein wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 8:04 pmYour agenda is detracting from the quality points you offer.mafiastudent wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 7:50 pmI said reputed. What do you want me to say? He's capo in Gambino? I don't understand the relevance. No matter what he is or isn't shouldn't detract from the issue at hand.

And i"m biased only in that I'm taking a stance against the status quo. If I took the govt's POV, I wouldn't be considered biased. I have never wavered from if a guy is guilty then a guy is guilty but it should be based on fact and not BS and shady unethical manipulations of the law by the law itself.
