2 biggest myths each contradicting each other…..they are finished.. their not..and 2. they are powerful...they are not..... they fall somewhere in between currently. the new crop of talent is a waste but a few guys could turn out to be powerhouses, we will have to see. I know personally of a lot of incidents (guys disrespecting and even assaulting made men/ independents telling buttons to fuck off)) that would have never been tolerated in even the 90s. its a paper tiger. but it exists and all it needs is time if allowed

Interesting reply I guess what I was trying to hear answers about is the differences between the different families ? Like are there certain families you just don’t Cross and the others you might push your luck a little bit cause they are in such dis array (columbos, maybe Luke’s) . Or just describing factors of differences between Bonnanos and Gambinos or Luke’s and Genovese in the culture of their brogatas ?

well from what I understand the Genovese fam is considered the most powerful. certain idiots claim they are non violent..no they are jut not recklessly bringing le attention by shooting it out over every little issue.. the Colombo fam is in disarray but they are not dead...in fact they are the opposite of the Genovese guys. blue collar shooters. its what led them tp their current position. the lukes. bonannos and gambinos are existing. some guys powerful so not so much. the Gambino sicilian faction is serious. obviously im a poster on a forum so im not relating first hand other than being in the neighborhoods my whole life. I believe its the areas and the type of people who gravitate to particular families. the Genovese want you to be around them 10 tears before you can be made apparently. smart..the bonanno fam makes almost anyone to get their numbers and $ up. their all different organizations, but my original post again none are as powerful as they were. a lot less fear of these guys on the streets these days whether its a mistake or not. idk but so far a lot of shit Is being let go that never would have been 25-30 years ago.Mason_dixon wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 4:48 pm Interesting reply I guess what I was trying to hear answers about is the differences between the different families ? Have asked the same on here a few times and never really got an answer, do the mob still have an effect/reputation on the street level? Ie dont fuck about with him hes connected to so and so, and is there a genuine threat of violence for crossing these guys?
Re: What are generaliZations and stereotypes made about NYC’s 5 Families by locals !..
A generalisation about the Colombos is that they are backstabbers. I think (but don’t quote me on this) that this notion is generally echoed in court testimony by people like Michael DiLeonardo and other mob rats, who are generally asked about the Five Families by prosecutors as introductory questions, but I recall it was specifically brought up on a wiretap between Colombo associate Roger Califano and his brother-in-law Lucchese associate Giovanni Galluzzo, where Califano was essentially bemoaning the new Colombo regime and the Colombos in general as shaking down their own men, whereas Galluzzo was almost gloating that his higher-ups barely bothered him at all.

The mob does what it has for a long time - trade on it's reputation. While they still do happen from time, more so than many who don't follow the mob might think, the murders are a lot less than in the past. This does protect against law enforcement pressure, guys possibly flipping, and long sentences, but it does also reduce the fear factor on the street. People get away with more because the mob is slower to resort to the gun.

What about on a non OC level though? Say your in a pub and theres a bit of aggro for example, would the fear fsctor still be there on a ground level of dont fuck about hes a dodgy guy or hes mob connected etc?Wiseguy wrote: ↑Fri Jun 05, 2020 10:09 pmThe mob does what it has for a long time - trade on it's reputation. Great refrence of the 2 associates

Assuming they knew who the mob guy was in the first place, they'd probably think twice before starting something. Even today, unless they're crazy or just don't give an F, who wants to open a possible can of worms by getting into some shoving match with a made guy?

I agree I was just wondering if one family is less likely to be messed vs another.
