The Mob and Coronavirus.

Post by Ozgoz »

If the mob is a struggling, contracting business, will this accelerate their decreasing market share and influence?

Their income from vice will surely stagnate as disposable income takes a hit.

And who is going to be building skyscrapers in a depression?

OR

The old moustache pete’s found ways to prosper coming out of a depression. Does the current crop have the criminal acumen to do the same?

We know the mob (Colombo’s) are more than happy to profiteer off of a disaster (9/11).

I think this is affecting everyone, and in this case the mafia is also being very affected, but I believe that when the pandemic passes the Mafia as well as everyone gradually becomes active, you don't think it will even get worse or benefit from it in the after all.

The guys that have cash on hand will probably do real good as a lot of companies are going to need $ to survive and LE is going to give a fuck right now about that type of activity and honestly they secretly should be encouraging it. Nobody wins with contractors / small biz going under

Fucked up times

I was joking with my friends that I think Cops are giving everyone’s a pass for small time dealing right now ( absent coke / opiates, meth ) as now it’s about getting by.

Agreed. Right now cops want to deal with people in close quarters about as much as the general public as a whole. Small time dealing is the least of their worries.

Yeah the gambling crews are starving

Weed crews booming

Big loan sharking crews are going to have a lot more biz / interests

The choices today’s bosses are making must be interesting to balance things out

This is a perfect environment for the Westside who have the cash to lend to choice relationships with the govt taking a blind eye . They will likely come out stronger if gambling comes back

There was an article yesterday that reported that 50 NYPD officers have the Wuhan coronavirus. In China all members of law enforcement at least have face masks, but NYPD doesn't. So it's going to continue to spread, and if members of the New York crime families mingle and don't follow safety rules, they're going to get infected too. Some of them will die of COVID-19 just like anyone else, and there's plenty of older members in their 70s, 80s, and 90s.

Yep , will be very interesting to look back 3 years from now and see how the various admin’s handled this. There will be winners and losers at the extreme.

Would not be shocked if Feds actually went to some families on the DL to start lending $ to contractors / small biz owners. If it’s lent as equity and not debt it’s legal. The smart crews are going to be stronger out of this

Construction of all kind should be fine, and on going. Depending on the state, construction workers are considered essential workers and so aren’t ordered to quarantine. Likewise with other mob related industries, like waste management, or Italian delicatessens, all considered essential in states like New York as well and thus will remain operational.

The families and crews involved in the drug trade are probably jumping for joy and doing jumping jacks though. No better time to sit around and get high all day than now when there isn’t much else to do, and when being sober just makes you panic. They’re probably making crazy money right now.

What is that script for some B movie? Get real.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.

Weed dealers are going to be killing it, this quarantine will last at least 8 weeks, probably 12. They will have trouble keeping up. What else is there to do?

Longer, most states in particularly mine, New York. Considering how bad it is in states like mine. Fully expect this to drag on into August, expecting 7.5 - 15 million people getting infected in just my state alone. Places like California expect 56% of their population will be infected in just 8 weeks, that is 26 million people, this has really only just begun. Police will probably turn a blind eye to weed dealers too, they have people acting crazy in desperation and the inevitable influx in opioid sales (which you already know is going to boom too through all this) to deal with.
