Re: Fast risers
It's possible that Bruno briefly served as a capo under Pollina before becoming boss.
Some other Philly fast-risers:
Larry Merlino and Salvie Testa were inducted in 1980 and made capos in 1981 and 1982, respectively
Tommy DelGiorno and Faffy Iannarella were made in 1982 and promoted to acting capos in 1984
Scoops Licata was made in 1986 and promoted to acting capo in 1988
George Fresolone was promoted to capo the day after he was made
I know you expelled the Stanfa and Natale hierarchy appointments from your list because basically everyone who got bumped up there was made and promoted quickly but the one who really stands out there was John Veasey. There you have a guy who wasn't even an associate at the start of 1993 committing two murders for the organisation, getting made and getting promoted to capo in the span of about 2-3 months. That was under exceptional circumstances but it's a spectacularly quick rise in status (followed by an equally fast fall).

Re: Fast risers
It was even faster than that. Made in 1971 and Consiglere by 1973.
The fastest one of all is of course Ralph Natale. Made in late 1994 and promoted to Boss the same day.

Was Veasey a Capo? I thought that was just something that was in that self published Internet book he did.

It's a new morning in America... fresh, vital. The old cynicism is gone. We have faith in our leaders. We're optimistic as to what becomes of it all. It really boils down to our ability to accept. We don't need pessimism. There are no limits.
Re: Fast risers
I believe Freselone said he was a captain, but his breakdown of the Stanfa-Merlino war is full of all kinds of errors. Goes along with his general lack of knowledge about what was going on in Philly while he was in North Jersey.Pogo The Clown wrote: ↑Tue Apr 07, 2020 9:54 am

Re: Fast risers
Veasey's been very consistent about his position over the years. He's been saying he was a captain since 1994 and nobody's ever come forward to contradict him

Re: RE: Re: Fast risers
Natale was made in the mid 1970s by Carlo Gambino, Angelo Bruno and Lucky Luciano (who was present through an ouija bord). Others present during that ceremony were Russell Bufalino, Paolo Violi and Joe Di Maulo as well as Stefano Bontade and Salvatore Badalamenti, who came all the way from Sicily to pay their respects. Do your research.Pogo The Clown wrote:
