So I knew we found out Matty and I though Stevie both had to vacate their positions but now I’m hearing that is incorrect and Crea kept his while Matty was also shelved? Under what grounds besides being a mob narcotics or heroin legend? Always heard Crea had the real power why punish a guy like Matty at his advanced age. Does anyone have any idea what happened here? Was there a power struggle brewing lead by Matty with Crea staying neutral or? Wish there was somewhere to read more about these two but especially Matty.

From what Capeci wrote, Madonna and Joseph DiNapoli were taken down in 2017 in favour of Michael DeSantis and Andrew DiSimone, respectively. Crean, on the other hand, was allowed to keep his title pending the outcome of his legal problems, which was why Dellorusso was made acting underboss. Didn't mention putting anyone on the shelf.

To be honest the media made more of this then it really was. Both are going to jail for the rest of the lives. Matty was probably gonna step down anyways because he was already fucked with Multiple indictments that would keep him in Jail for the rest of this life. Street bosses and underbosses have to be on the street....they were not. So they were replaced...that's the way its been forever. If they refused they would remove them by force...this is common knowledge but it rarely comes to this when people are gonna be off the street for a very long time. It really was a much to do about nothing. Much different then when Amuso and Casso bumped off Buddy and took the family...different because they became OFFICIAL boss and underboss. not acting.

Exactly. Being taken down is different from being shelved.
